I just want to apologize for the wait, I had a bit of writers block but I'm back on track again. Thanks for the votes!

- Unkown POV -

My wolf paced angrily back and forth, growling and clawing at anything in sight.

She wasn't here.

I had been worried at first when I was late to meet here but hours had passed and she wasn't showing up. In the beginning I thought maybe she had been here and got tired of waiting, but I couldn't pick up her scent anywhere. Which only meant one thing; she had never been here in the first place.

After meeting her at the edge of my territory, I couldn't stop thinking about her. Even with pack business and the sudden appearance of rogues, she was always lingering at the back of my mind. How could you be level-headed one minute and a daydreamer the next?

Mate, my wolf whined.

My wolf couldn't wrap his head around the fact that she wasn't showing up. To my wolf it was simple, we had found our mate and she should be at our side. When we had smelt her in the woods, it took everything in my power to stop my wolf from sinking his teeth into her neck and marking her as ours. But I was an Alpha and I didn't do anything without thinking of my pack first. If I was to mark her and she went back to her pack, it could mean war between her pack and mine. Marking your mate without their consent was like a direct attack on every member of her pack.

I stopped pacing and scented the air again.

Nothing.

I growled dangerously. If my mate thought she could just stand me up without any consequences, she had another thing coming.

- Leah POV -

I was on edge all day.

With all the precautions taken to prevent an attack from rogues, no one from our pack was going anywhere. Children were monitored around the clock, pack members that lived on the outskirts of the pack territory were moved closer to the Alpha house. Houses were now holding at least two families each.

This is definitely not how I wanted to spend my summer.

"Leah?"

I jumped and choked on a scream.

"Whoa there. I thought you heard me." Mason said. His hands were raised in front of his chest in a universal non-threatening display.

My heart was still hammering in my chest and I shakily laughed.

Mason took a seat next to me on the log. We stared at the ashes of one of last night's bonfires. A small breeze lifted up the lighter ashes and carried them off into the trees.

I needed a run so bad. Since we had been on lock down I had missed meeting up with my mate. I was paranoid that he would show up, livid and ready to drag me to his pack territory. I had seen new mates and it could be frightening to see how protective the male was of his mate. In our case it would be worse. We were newly mates from different packs, which meant I was around other males, unmarked, and my mate had no control over what could happen. Not that I would cheat on my mate anyways.

My wolf growled at the very thought.

Calm down, I'm loyal, I told her.

"Leah!" Mason yelled.

I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and looked at him. I must have had that confused look on my face cause he sighed in frustration.

"Sorry," I apologized.
