The sounds of snarls woke me from a dead sleep. I jolted upright and scrambled to get out of bed. I slammed my knee against the hardwood floor as I bailed out of bed. The sheets were wrapped around my ankles and prevented me from moving. I quickly freed my feet and raced to the window.

I was momentarily blinded and I squinted against the bright light from the sun.

The majority of my pack was outside, including my Alphas. I could smell the tension rolling off my pack and another scent I didn't recognize. It smelt of copper and pepper. I wrinkled my nose in disgust. Most of the mothers and females of the pack were missing and I assumed they were with the children and the young wolves.

Someone snarled again.

I squinted down at a unfamiliar group. There were fifteen of them facing off against my pack and they all ranged in size and colour, meaning they were a mix from different packs. I sniffed the air again and my blood ran cold. I recognized that scent.

I had smelt it the same day I had raced into my Alpha's office.

"Rogues," I whispered in horror.

I raced out my room and down the stairs. Three of the younger wolves that I shared the house with, were pressed up against the window and peaking through the curtains. Emily shoved Michael, trying to get a better view. I gave them a quick growl and they immediately left the window.

I quickly closed the door quietly behind me, hoping not to draw the attention of the rogues.

I quietly crept towards the back of the pack. Anger started to set in when I realized no one had decided to warn me and wake me up. I was a good fighter and I deserved to be here as much as anyone.

My pack felt my presence and they immediately squished together, effectively blocking any way for me to get through. I growled softly in frustration.

"This has been the second time you have trespassed on my territory," my Alpha snarled.

Someone snorted in disgust.

"We need to pass through!" An unfamiliar voice growled.

"By violating our laws!" Our Drappa--Sydney--yelled back in frustration.

I elbowed and shoved people, trying to make it through but no one budged.

The tension was getting worse. The rogues were snarling and growling louder. There would be war if I didn't do something!

Protect them, my wolf demanded.

How? I shouted back.

Then it clicked.

This had better work, I growled at her.

I ran along behind my pack and jogged around the large group. Hands reached out to stop me but I jumped out of their reach. As I reached the front of our pack, Mason caught sight of me. His face instantly went dark and he growled.

Leah, get back! He yelled.

I rolled my eyes at him and casually walked towards my Alphas. The look on my Alpha's face made me want to roll over and beg for forgiveness. I forced myself to stay calm even though my palms were sweating and I was hyperventilating.

The rogues' attention turned on me. I shivered under their gaze but continued to walk until I was standing next to Mason and my Alphas. I took a deep breath and allowed myself to look at the rogues.

They looked like your everyday normal wolves. They wore regular jeans and t-shirts but went barefoot. Their hairs were a little extreme, some had coloured streaks, or chopped hair, while others had theirs spiked. The one in the middle looked the most average. He had shaggy blond hair, dark eyes, and tan skin. If anything, he was quite attractive, but there was something dark and wild laying under the surface. Now that I noticed it, I could see all the rogues had that same look in their eyes. They looked like they didn't care and that they had nothing to fear, and that scared me the most.
