- Will's POV -
Eight hundred sixty-four thousand seconds. Fourteen thousand four hundred minutes. Two hundred forty hours. One week and three days. That's how long my mate has not been in my arms.
But that will end today.
Mason had given us all the information we needed to get my girl back. What pissed me off the most, was how close she was this entire time, and I hadn't even noticed. Mason had described the intricate maze of tunnels ten feet under the soil. They went on for miles and housed more than two hundred, uncontrolled, unpredictable, rogues. And was currently housing my beautiful mate. The thought of her surrounded by male rogues had my blood boiling, even one rogue within ten miles of her, was too close for my wolf and I.
As soon as Mason had given me the coordinates to my mate, ten of Alpha Caine's best fighters had to hold me down to stop me from tearing into those rogue tunnels. Caine's pack healer, Marie, had to sedate me with enough morphine to knock out two full grown elephants.
"I want to visit the boy."
Marie glanced over her shoulder at me. My request didn't seem to surprise her at all. She is a good healer, I thought to myself. My wolf was too sedated to form any reply, but I could feel him start to stir.
"Why?" Marie asked.
"I feel like he left something out." I honestly told her. "Something important."
She pursed her lips together and I could tell she was talking to her Alpha. After a few seconds she turned away and started to clean up her tools.
"Alpha will escort you to him," She replied just as the door opened and the man himself walked in.
"Can you walk?" Caine asked.
I nodded and slowly sat up, my head throbbed and everything seemed to move very slowly. I breathed deeply as stood from the operating table, my legs shook from the morphine's lingering effects. I gritted my teeth together and spat, "Lead the way."
Caine raised an eyebrow at my condition but didn't mention anything further.
With each step I took, I could feel the effects of the morphine start to dissolve. My wolf growled angrily and I could feel him slowly start to take over my body again. My werewolf strength started to appear and I rolled my shoulders, feeling my muscles bunch and tense.
Caine walked smoothly beside me in silence. He never questioned my motives, nor did he ever think I was a weak Alpha. I respected him for that, but I hated him for his son.
"Will you kill him?" I finally asked.
Caine flinched at the question. The punishment for threatening the pack was death. Even if it was the Alpha's only son. Law was law even if the circumstances were unfavourable. Our laws were the only thing separating rogues from pack life.
"I will do what is necessary. He is my son, but I will protect my pack." Caine snapped.
If it was me, would I be able to kill my own son? I wondered. My wolf immediately purred as an image of Leah round with my pups popped into my head.
Soon, I told my wolf.
He growled in reply. Mine!
A small smile worked its way onto my face. Ours, I promised him.
