- Leah's POV -
Will and Connor crashed to the floor in a snarling heap. Their huge bodies taking out everything in their path.
I vaguely heard people screaming in shock and fear. I was frozen in horror as I watched my mate and my friend exchange blows.
Mate! My wolf howled in worry.
I saw Will's arm pull back and then the sound of flesh connecting with flesh as Connor's head was thrown back.
"Connor!" I screamed.
Will's head whipped around as his black eyes met my green ones. Connor used the distraction to his advantage to push Will off of his chest. Will growled as they circled each other.
"She will always scream my name," Connor taunted.
That was Will's breaking point. Will shifted and charged at Connor. His huge black wolf barreled straight at him. Connor had a split second to shift into his light brown wolf before Will slammed into him, throwing Connor out the door. Connor's body took out a table and a huge chunk of grass, he shook himself off and quickly got to his feet, but not before Will's teeth sank into his side and threw him into the nearest tree. The tree exploded into chunks as Connor went sailing through it.
Stop them Leah, my Alpha's voice commanded.
Connor was stumbling to his feet as Will went for round two. Connor had a chunk of wood sticking out of his side and Will hind leg was bleeding.
I don't know how! I cried.
Listen to your wolf, Sydney answered.
I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart. Before I could question my wolf, I kicked off my heels and sprinted barefoot towards my mate. I heard my dress tear up the side, exposing more of my thigh. Will's back was towards my as his huge wolf crouched, readying himself to leap at Connor, who was trying to get to his feet.
Connor was bleeding heavily but so was my mate.
I quickly jumped up onto my mates back and clung to his fur. Will tensed beneath me as I ran my fingers through his thick black fur. My dress ripped even further as I dangled my legs over his sides. I leaned forward so my face was close to his ear.
"Will, it's okay. I'm yours, only yours." I whispered.
His ears twitched back to listen to me but then they turned forward as Connor whimpered. Will growled and all his muscles tensed again. I knew I didn't have much time before Will attacked again. I rubbed my face into his fur and purred. Will froze at the sound so I continued to purr and rub my face and hands into his fur.
Mates could only purr if it was to calm down their mate or comfort them. I have never been able to purr because I had never had any reason to, but now that I had my mate, I could produce the sound. It felt weird at first, like my whole body was readying itself before it could release the sound. As I continued to purr though, it became more natural and fluent.
Mate, I whispered in his head.
His wolf growled in agreement.
Good girl Leah, now take him somewhere familiar where he can calm down, Alpha instructed.
I nodded into my mate's fur.
Let's go home Will, I whispered.
His wolf head turned slightly to look back at me. I purred once more to show him I was safe with him. He looked back at Connor and snarled before bolting off into the trees with me clinging to his back.
I didn't protest as Will took us towards his territory, nor did I try and stop him. His wolf felt threatened in my pack's territory, and it would make him calm down faster if he felt I was safe.
Ten minutes passed as the trees blurred by and Will dodged trees and leaped over logs and roots. He started to slow once we came to a clearing near a small creek. It was beautiful, but I didn't have much time to look around before Will stopped and waited for me to climb off. I did quickly and stepped back waiting for him to shift.
He didn't.
Instead he turned around to snarl at me.
I knew he wouldn't hurt me, but that didn't stop my heart from racing out of control.
"Will, I'm sorry," I whispered.
He shook his head angrily and circled around me. I looked straight ahead even though I felt him right behind me. He gently nudged behind my knees, silently telling me to kneel. I sighed and carefully dropped to my knees with my hands resting on my thighs.
"Connor and I are just friends," I explained. Will growled at the sound of another male's name leaving my lips.
Will paced back and forth in front of me, occasionally glancing my way. I could see his anger slowly starting to fade. As he paced, I took in account all of his wounds. He didn't look as bad as Connor did, but then again, Will was an Alpha.
Why then? He demanded.
My wolf purred at the sound of our mate's voice.
"Because I was jealous," I mumbled, not meeting his eyes.
I waited for him to laugh or get angry.
He surprised me by walking up and using his head to push me backwards. I laid down on the soft, cool grass. His dark blue eyes stared down at me, studying me.
You are my only mate. Candice means nothing to me. He said sternly.
"But-"
Nothing! You are my mate. Mine. There is no one else Leah, He growled.
I couldn't help the smile that lit up my face at his words.
Will slowly lowered his wolf body over me and laid his big head on my stomach. His thick fur immediately warmed my bare legs. I left his paws on either side of my body, caging me in. His warm breath blew over my face as he sighed in content.
I laughed quietly and ran my fingers through his fur. He closed his eyes as he relaxed.
Sleep mate, I soothed.
