Classes were going well, albeit a few minor bumps the past few weeks. The weather was getting chilly, which meant fall was underway. In a couple of weeks, homecoming would be upon us. It's not that I hate dances, it's that something always happens at them. Plus, homecoming is a big deal with the college crowd.
I was enjoying a peaceful slumber when I felt someone jump on me, causing me to make an "oomph" sound.
"Morning, sunshine," a familiar voice said.
I peeked through one eye to see Scarlett on my back. I was getting used to her ambushing me as I slept, but ever since we had that kiss, nothing else happened as in nothing, nada, zero, zip.
I turned over as she maneuvered herself to where she was sitting on my stomach.
"And what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" I grabbed my clock and looked at it. "At eight in the morning?"
"Well, I thought we could go to breakfast," she grinned.
"You do realize most college students are sleeping in on a Saturday? They are not up at eight in the morning unless they are going to bed after a night of partying," I reasoned.
"Yeah, but we're not your typical college students," she said to me as she tapped me on the nose with her finger.
I sighed, shaking my head. Then I laid back down on my bed and pulled the blankets over my head. She yanked them down.
"Scarlett!" I yelled.
"Matthew!" Scarlett yelled back.
"Scarlett!"
"Matthew!"
"Will you stop that?" I yelled.
"I figured we were memorizing each other's names," she smirked. That was it. I grabbed her and threw her onto the bed and started tickling her, making her giggle.
"Stop!" Scarlett squealed.
"Not until you say Matt is awesome," I said, tickling her.
"Why would I do that? My mom told me always to tell the truth," she squealed as I tickled her.
"If you don't, I won't stop tickling you," I said as I continued.
"Okay! Okay!" She yelled.
I stopped briefly.
"Matt is the most awesome guy," she said, trying not to laugh.
"Now, was that so hard?" I asked as I hovered over her.
She gave me a look and shook her head while rolling her eyes. She pushed me, and I fell over onto my back. I stretched out and put my arms behind my head. She sat up and looked at me. "You know, we should try another date."
I gave her a look. "Why because the first one went so well. I think I'll pass."
"Oh, come on!" Scarlett exclaimed. I sat up and looked into her eyes as she continued, "You know what they say, try, try, try again."
"Why do you want to go out with me so badly?" I questioned.
"Because I know we would have a lot of fun and because I like you if you hadn't already noticed," she said, fidgeting with her fingers and looking at me.
"You like me?" It came out more as a question, then a statement.
"Well, duh. Why do you think I'm making such an effort with you? Usually, it's the guy that pursues the girl, not the other way around," she said to me.
I looked at her as she fidgeted more, then I reached to the side of her face and pulled her lips to mine. Our kiss started slow and sweet, then I don't know what happened, but I pulled her onto my lap as our kiss intensified. She wrapped her hands around my neck as I put my hands on her waist.
