Spring break fun

After a few days, they released me from the hospital. We had to complete the finals. Then it was spring break. Since anything to do with water was out of the question because of my leg. What is one to do in that case? Oh, I don't know, go camping. Why do I have a bad feeling about this trip?

I got home from class and collapsed on the couch. I propped my leg up so I could rest. Have you ever tried sitting through a class taking a final with a cast wrapped around your upper thigh? It's not fun.

I drifted off to sleep, and the next thing I knew, someone woke with their soft lips on mine. I opened my eyes to see Scarlett grinning at me. "Afternoon sleepy head."

"How long was I out?" I asked, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and propping myself up.

"For a few hours. How's the leg?" She asked me.

"Eh, it's okay. It was a little uncomfortable sitting through finals," I reasoned.

She sat down on the floor next to the couch and leaned her head back as I ran my hand through her hair.

"Where are the others?" I asked Scarlett.

"They're finishing up their last finals," she said with her eyes closed. It felt good to sit here and not worry about anything. These past few months were hell for us. If it wasn't one thing, it was another.

A few minutes later, Drew and Liz came in. Drew jumped into a chair, and Liz plopped down on the other couch, face forward. "Thank god finals are over with," Liz said, muffled.

"No, shit. I didn't think I would ever get through my Econ final," Drew said.

"Well, now we can relax since it's spring break," I said.

"Not so fast," Elijah said, coming in with Davina.

"What are you babbling about now?" Drew asked.

"I'll wait until Junior gets here with Hope to tell everyone," Elijah said to Drew.

"Tell us what?" Junior asked, coming in with Hope. He sat down in a chair and pulled Hope onto his lap.

"Now that we are all here, I have some news," Elijah said enthusiastically.

"What is Elijah rambling about this time?" Junior asked us.

"It's Elijah. He always rambles about something," I said.

"Do you guys mind?" He asked in a huff.

"No, Elinore, continue," Drew said.

"Okay, Nancy," Elijah shot back as he continued. "For spring break this year, we are going camping!"

We all looked at each other and groaned.

He rolled his eyes and added, "On Uncle Joseph's land." Then he sat down in a chair.

"How in the hell did you get Uncle Joseph to let us go camping?" Junior asked.

"It's easy. I called Uncle Joseph," Elijah grinned. Junior gave him a look. "Okay, fine, I called Uncle Ryan."

"Oh, so you use my dad to get Uncle Joseph to allow us to camp there," I said to Elijah.

"I wouldn't say it was using so much as a favor for my dear cousin injured," Elijah said emphatically.

"Uh, huh, sure," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Eli, why didn't you call the man and ask him instead of going through Ryan?" Drew asked him.

We all stared at Drew.

"What?" Drew asked.

"We're not allowed to ask Uncle Joseph if we can camp on his land," Liz said.
