I woke up, and something felt off, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I looked at Scarlett, and she was sleeping soundly next to me. Everything seemed fine. It must not be that important, so I pushed it out of my mind. I rolled over and placed kisses on her, and she opened her eyes, then looked at me. "Morning," Scarlett yawned.

"Morning," I said, kissing her.

"Happy April 1," Scarlett said to me, then it hit me.

I sat up quickly and scrambled out of bed. "Shit!"

She sat up, looking a bit confused, "What's going on, Matt?"

"It's April 1," I answered.

"Yeah, so?" She asked me.

"Also known as April Fool's Day, known as Elijah's favorite day of the year," I said, jumping into some pants and tossing on a shirt. Her eyes widened, and she dressed quickly.

"Why didn't you tell me? We could have got a hotel room," Scarlett reminded me.

"Well, I don't know, I was too busy having sex with my girl to realize what day it was," I shot back.

"Okay, I forgive you," Scarlett said back to me as we heard a knock at the door. We both looked at the door and climbed out of the window. It's a good thing I have a tree next to my window.

Once we were out, down the tree, and safely on the ground, we took off. Elijah opened the door with Drew. "Are they gone?" Drew asked.

"Yep, Matt's plan worked perfectly," Elijah said.

"Good, let's tell the others," Drew said as they went to their rooms.

They all left the house and met up with the brothers while Scarlett and I hid from Elijah. As we are trying to keep hidden, she looked at me. "As much as I like hiding from your cousin, do you know what today is?" She asked me with a flutter of eyelashes.

"Yeah, April Fool's Day, and I would prefer not to be the butt of many jokes today," I said.

"Oh," Scarlett said.

"Why?" I asked, looking at Scarlett.

"No reason," she shrugged, then her phone rang. "Today? But. But. Okay. I guess if you need help. I'll be there in a few minutes."

"Who was that?" I asked.

"Kate. She needs my help today," Scarlett said solemnly.

"Okay," I replied.

"What?" Scarlett asked with confusion.

"Okay, go help, Kate. I'm pretty sure you'll be out of the bullseye at the bakery," I said casually.

She sighed, "Okay, I'll see you later." She gave me a quick peck and left.

I went back to the house. I came in, and Junior said, "I see Kate called."

"Yeah, she should be busy for a few hours. How's everything coming?" I asked.

"The girls are taking care of the decorations, and the brothers are getting the food. Dad will be here shortly with the cake," Junior said to me.

"What about you, Matt?" Elijah asked.

"I have to leave and get her gift in a few minutes, which should arrive shortly," I said, grabbing Junior's car keys and leaving.

"Come on, Eli, and help me bring in the gifts," Drew said to Elijah. They brought in the gifts as the girls returned with the decorations and started decorating the house. The brothers showed up shortly with the food, and Frazier arrived with the cake as I made my way to pick up Scarlett's gift.
