I sat on a couch, and I will not lie; I was nervous. My leg kept shaking, and when I picked up a glass of water, I was shaking it from my nervousness. I remember when Mom told us about Dad and my uncles meeting my grandparents for the first time and how nervous they were except for Uncle Jordan and how Grandpa introduced them to Betty. That was easy compared to this.
I had five guys staring at me who all looked exactly alike except they had different hairstyles. Leo, I already knew, who kept winking at me. Yeah, that didn't make me any more uncomfortable than I already was. I sat there, not saying a word. It was better that way.
"Leo, I thought you said he was friendly?" Zane asked.
"He's probably shy," Xavier said.
"Or mute," Frisco mentioned.
"Or the biggest idiot that we ever saw," Angelo added.
"Give him a break, guys. How would you feel if you had to meet us for the first time?" Leo asked them.
"Not an idiot, that's for sure," Angelo said.
Not only were they sizing me up, they already had an opinion of me - fanfuckingtastic.
"So, what are your intentions with our baby sister?" Xavier asked.
I spoke when Zane cut me off, "You will treat her with respect, unlike the last tool, right?"
I tried to say something as Frisco interjected, "Yes, he is, and he will not touch her inappropriately either."
I tried again when Angelo added, "And not be a tool either. We don't like guys like that. We don't like any guys like that."
"You will respect Scar, right, Matt?" Leo asked.
They were dominating the conversation so much that I couldn't get a word in edge-wise, until Scarlett yelled from the kitchen, "Dinner's ready!"
I stood up, and the five of them looked at me, making me promptly sit back down on the couch. The brothers all went into the kitchen to eat, and I sat there for a few minutes. Then I stood up, and Angelo shook his head, so I sat back down - tough crowd.
As they all ate, I sipped my water. I heard my stomach growl, and knowing I would not get any dinner, I yelled for Scarlett, "Hey, Scarlett."
She came out of the kitchen, "Matt, were you joining us for dinner?"
"I will head out. Junior needs my help with something. I'm sorry to cut this short."
"Are you sure?" She asked, her brows furrowing.
"Yeah. I'll talk to you later. Tell your brothers it was nice meeting them," I said as I was going to give her a kiss on the cheek when her brothers glared at me from the kitchen. Instead, I shook her hand and left, leaving her confused.
I went to Aunt Kate's bakery since they starved me. The last thing I needed was my family questioning me about my evening. It was bad enough. I walked in and talked to Aunt Kate; then, she made me some food. I took a seat next to a window and looked out of it as I ate.
I was not eating left me hungry that I ordered seconds. I love Scarlett, but with her brothers, I would perish because they sure in the hell would not let me eat. I finished my meal and hung out there. I needed to wait until it was late enough to go home.
What I didn't know is Kate made a call.
Hello?
"Junior, it's me," Kate whispered.
Aunt Kate, why are you whispering?
"Because Matthew is here. Didn't he have plans with Scarlett tonight?" Kate questioned.
