Maya, Chai, and Josh walked to central city park being here brought back the terrible memory of Maya witnessing her father death by Rebel. Chai sensing Maya discomfort squeezed her hand to show she here for Maya. Maya smiled at Chai in appreciation. The three sat in a park bench.
"So what do you wanna talk about, Chai?" Josh asked confused why Chai would want to talk to Maya and him in private.
"Can I talk to Maya first, Josh." Chai asked Josh nodded and walked away so Maya and Chai can talk privately, Maya wrapped her arms around Chai as Chai rested her head on Maya shoulder.
"Thank you, Maya, for being here for me and not judging me nor treating me different when I told you what happened and for defending me." Chai said Maya smiled softly.
"I'll always protect you, Chai. You should know that by now with everything we been through. You guys are all that I have left so I will protect you guys with my life." Maya replied Chai lifted her head the two stared at each other and Maya noticed the pain in Chai eyes she never imagined that Chai was in this much pain.
"Chai, I wish I could fix you. I wish I could take away your pain and reverse everything that happened to you. But I can't. But we can all tell that your scared and I don't blame you... we don't blame you. And I want you to be better and I'm sorry that I can't heal you or take the pain away." Maya explained sadly and the two shared a hug Chai tried her best to not cry the two slowly pulled apart.
"I love you, Maya." Chai sincerely said, Maya kissed Chai forehead, "I love you too, Chai." Maya sincerely replied Chai rested her head on Maya shoulder the two stayed in comfortable silence and then heard footsteps they turned around saw Josh approaching them.
Maya sensing that it was now time for Chai and Josh to talk privately got up from the bench.
"I'll leave you too to talk, I'll be waiting towards the entrance." Maya explained as she walked away. Josh held Chai hand and stroked it gently Chai slightly smiled at the gesture the two were silent for neither knew what to say Josh took a deep breath and faced Chai.
"I have no idea how you must feel right now especially since this happened to you when you were a kid. But why didn't you tell me at least..." Josh stopped mid sentence when he noticed Chai expression.
"Josh I already explained to my parents why I didn't tell them but why I didn't tell Riley, Farkle, Zay, Lucas, Smackle, or you is because... I just couldn't I don't how to explain it in words on why I didn't you guys." Chai explained, "But why Maya? Why of all people did you tell Maya?" Josh asked. Chai turned and saw Maya who was talking on the phone and then faced Josh.
"Have you ever seen something that completely changed your life?" Chai asked ignoring Josh question. Chai and Josh were now facing each other.
"I mean, I saw you." Josh answered with a smile that Chai returned. Josh wrapped his arm around Chai and Chai rested her head on Josh shoulder.
"It hurts me, knowing that this happened to you and seeing you in pain makes me be in pain because seeing you in pain is the worst feeling in the world." Josh explained with pain in his voice Chai couldn't hold back her tears and started crying Josh wiped away the tears. Once Chai calmed down she faced Josh and held both his hands.
"Josh these past few days as been horrible but it made me realize something. That I didn't take notice of till now. Josh, thank you for being their for me after the triangle, for cheering me up, and being by my side. But coming back to New York it showed me that we're holding on to something that's not there anymore, Josh." Chai explained, "Chai I know what your planning to say but your just confused. Please don't do this Chai, I love you." Josh pleaded Chai let go of Josh hands and stood up but before she could walk away Josh grabbed her hand.
"I love you, Chai. I'm yours. No matter where you go. I'm yours no matter who you meet. I'm not giving up on us because I know that we belong together and you know it too." Josh said determined Chai looked at Josh and walked away once Josh let go of her arm. Josh watched as Chai walked away and was surprised to see Farkle their with Maya and Maya heading towards his direction while Farkle and Chai left the park together.
Josh sat back down on the bench Maya sat beside him the two were silent until Maya held Josh hand grabbing his attention.
"Chai broke up with me." Josh simply explained with pain, "Two months after the triangle ended and your engagement with Riley I asked her who she wanted next to her when her dreams came true. She said you." Josh explained Maya was shocked, "Why would you tell me that?" Maya carefully asked. "I was already developing feelings for her and I would've given anything to hear her say my name." Josh explained.
"Josh after all that's been happening to me since junior year I realized something. Life's too short to play games if you love somebody and you want to be with them, then go get them. I'm not gonna pretend I know what will make anyone happy. But knowing Chai, Josh you make her the happiest person." Maya said with a smile which made Josh smile.
"Thank you, Maya. For everything and giving me hope." Josh replied and the two shared a hug with smiles on their faces. The two let go.
"Someday." Josh said jokingly Maya laughed, "Someday." Maya replied as the two laughed.
