She adjusted her school bag on her shoulder walking back home. To her surprise she found her fathers car parked on their porch, he was early. Her pace slowed down, suddenly she didn't feel like getting inside. She knew she had to get inside at some point, she couldn't postpone it any longer.

So She got inside closing the door trying to be as silent as possible. She didn't want her presence to be known.

The staircase was only a few feet away from her, a few steps and she could go to her room unnoticed. Being save behind her bedroom door.

She took one step forward, scanning the room around her. Her bag felt to the ground in surprise, a loud thud going unnoticed by her father. While her mother looked at her with pleading eyes, begging her to go upstairs.

Her eyes focused on the knife, the knife in her fathers hand. It came dangerously close to her mothers face.

In a second Lauren was on her fathers side, pushing him down on the floor. The pan she grabbed form the counter came in contact with her fathers head, she saw his eyes closed, giving her the time to check upon her mom.

Hanging over her mothers body she doing her eyes staring right back at her, a small smile visible on her face. She thought for a second that she did well, that her mother smiled because she was proud of her. It was just then that Lauren realized her mother didn't blink, or moved.

She scanned the body, seeing the knife stabbed in her mothers abandonment, her own feet where standing in the pile of her mothers blood.

In a second she was up right in her bed, facing trouble to get her breath under control. She was all covered in sweat. Her hand wiping her forehead dry, follows with letting a deep breath out she didn't know she was holding. It was just a nightmare.

Three loud bangs on the door reminds her why she woke up in the first place, at least what caused her to wake up.

"Lauren, you're late."

Lauren groaned, sitting up in a slow pace. She can't believe the nightmares were back again. Today marks the day that incident, at least how the police thinks it happened, two years ago. The first year she had nightmares everyday, and they were getting worse and worse.

They magically disappeared the day Lauren ran away from foster care. It was her first night sleeping in the streets when she ran into an elder woman, now that she thinks back to it Lauren can't believe she ever agreed to walk along with the mysterious woman to her home.

At least Lauren was under the impression she was going to the lady's home, instead Lauren found herself standing in front of an old fabric. She was hesitant to get in, the building looked abandoned and gave her the chills. But when she got inside it was a whole different story.

In the hallway she could already hear the chatter of girls filling the space. It didn't take long for Lauren to be assigned to a bunk, a bunk she was still sleeping in today.

She was confused that they didn't even ask any questions. Or that they asked something back for letting her shelter. They just gave her a new set of clothes and a bit of food.

Lauren quickly changed once the three girls left the room, and slurped all the food inside her mouth. She didn't plan to stay very long.

All the bunks in the room, along with the hospitality, made her think she landed in another foster care. She quickly stuffed some clothes she found in the closet in her bag, already zipping it up to get out of there.

Only when she turned around she came face to face with the elder woman that picked her off the streets.

"Hello Lauren." She spoke softly, ordering Lauren to sit down on the bed with her hands. She must admit that the woman was quite intimidating. "Why in such a rush?"

"How do you know my name?" Lauren asked, ignoring the woman's question.

"Because you are one of us. You don't think I actually ran into you in accident, asked you nothing and took you back here."

"I knew you were from foster care." Lauren muttered, sitting down with a sigh. She can't believe she was that stupid. But the woman laughed at Lauren, making her think again if she said something funny. "Oh darling. We're not from foster care."

It was hard for Lauren to progress everything the woman told her next, especially hard to figure out what she wanted from her. But a year later Lauren completely understood. And participated.

As she was today. She was degraded to driver today because she was late once again, it had to be the most boring thing of the whole task. She had to stay in the car while the others went into the house, freeing the next victim.

It was five in the morning, the sun was still down as there was no soul to be found on the streets. They were already gone for 30 minutes when Lauren's eyes began to get sleepy.

She almost doze off before someone banged on her window. She froze, her hands found the panel to roll the window down. Lauren had no idea on what to expect who was there.

"Lauren we need your help." She was glad it was Rose, a girl from the house. But Rose wasn't matching her feeling, she looked rather worried and was already in the house as Lauren got out of the car.
