2 years laterThe soft blaze hit her hair as Camila sat down on a bench in Central Park, sipping her coffee quietly.
She observed everything around her, how the leaves fell on the ground, and kids were jumping in the big piles of them. Throwing them above their head with those small hands.
Sometimes people don't realize what kind of freedom you have when you get to watch other people. It's just you, sitting on a small bench not having to worry about anything. For a long time Camila wasn't able to do that, and now when she has the chance, she doesn't take it for granted. Trying to enjoy every small thing as much as she could.
She closed her eyes, turning her head up to take a deep breath. She brought her coffee up to her lips to take another sip and stayed like that for just a few more minutes. Enjoying the surrounding sound.
One sound stood out to her, she was sure she heard someone call her name.
"Camila?" There it was again.
She opened her eyes, to her surprise she found the park completely empty. There was no soul to be found anywhere near.
"Camila." The voice came out more urgent, making her worry.
Of course she knew who that voice belonged to, she would recognize that voice anywhere.
"Lauren?"
"That's how it ends." Camila finishes, looking away form the window to find her therapist writing everything down. "I call for her and I wake up in my bed, covered in sweat. Every night, every night I have the same dream and it ends up the same."
The therapist closes her notebook trying to explain to her how her dream is reversed to her reality.
"You're afraid," she starts, "you're back to being just.. you. And it scares you because the last time you were you, it ended badly. And you think that it's going to happen again."
Camila stands up to get a better look out of the window. She can see the place that's haunting her dreams in the distance, and in five minutes she'll be walking her daily route again.
She's been walking it the past half year, every day. But still she couldn't imagine herself walking it next week, maybe the therapist was right.
"You call for this girl Lauren because she saved you once, and you're confident she'll try to save you twice.
"Then why isn't she there, why doesn't she find me?" She couldn't bare herself to say the name of the green eyed girl. It caused her too much pain.
"That's what I can't tell, you either have to figure that out yourself or you need the luck to have the dream continue one day.
"You don't know Camila, maybe she finds you. But you're just not at that part." With that the timer went off, ending their session.
After saying their goodbyes and Camila receiving her medication at the reception she continued her way home, walking her usually path.
It was always nice to take a long walk after their sessions, she could evaluate all the things they discussed and clear her mind a bit, leaving a stormy thirty minute session behind her.
