Juvia's POV
I scanned the place to find him but I can't seem to locate him. Where is that little boy? He needs to change into his pajamas since it's already late.
"Storm?" I called out, but I got no response. Ah, the library! That's right! Gray has a library in his mansion. Maybe he's in there since he loves books.
When I entered the library, I heard his voice. Ha! I'm right!
"If I consider you my father, will you not take us from Mommy anymore?" I heard him say with his usual monotonous voice, but it seems like he was pleading.
"I don't want mommy to be far from us," he continued with a low voice.
"If that's what you want," Gray said and ruffled his hair. Storm pouted and fixed his hair. I smiled. I'm happy...very happy to see them coming to terms now. I turn my back and face the door. I should leave the two of them for now. Those pajamas can wait. I was about to walk out but then I stumbled a bit when I felt pain in my head. I leaned against the bookshelf but to my mistake, it shook, causing the books to fall. Now I got their attention. Oh shit.
"Mommy! Are you okay?" Storm asked worriedly. I looked at him and smiled.
"I'm fine. I just stumbled. Silly me. That's all, honey. No need to worry!" I said and smiled reassuringly. Well, it's kinda hard to smile when you're hiding the pain. I noticed Gray staring at me but he quickly looked away and put his attention back to Storm. I felt like he's avoiding me since that encounter, that time when he glared at me ominously earlier. I looked again and he threw me a death glare before crouching down to be at eye level with Storm. What did I do wrong? And now he's avoiding me. The nerve of that man, geez!
"Daddy needs to go. I still have lots to do. Feel free to visit the library anytime you want." He tells Storm, ruffling his hair before kissing the crown of his head. Then,he stood up and got out of the library. I felt like I interrupted something. Damn! I have such awful timing. I looked at Storm and he seems annoyed while fixing his hair. He hates it when someone messes his hair.
"Mommy, let me help you." He volunteered when he saw me picking up the books and putting them back on the shelf.
"Honey, you need to change your clothes now. It's getting late. Go to your room and change your clothes while I fix this mess." I said. He nodded and padded his way upstairs. This time, I can't help but groan as the pain in my head was getting worse. Damn, what is this pain?
I spent an hour in the library, reading, trying to distract myself so I wouldn't feel the pain. Soon enough, the pain faded away. I decided to go to my room and rest. Maybe the headache was caused by stress.
"Did the kids have dinner already?" I heard Gray, who was in the living room talking to one of the maids. I continue to walk towards the stairs, not minding them.
"Yes, sir."
"How about Ju–" He was cut off when he saw me. I tensed up when he suddenly moved towards me.
"Did you already quit that job?" He asked; his tone is so serious.
"No. Not–"
"Do you really like that job so bad? Or is it because you have feelings for that Kazuki that's why it's hard for you to quit?!" He exclaimed angrily. What is he saying? I don't have feelings for my boss!
"What?! N–"
"Fine! Do as you please! I don't give a damn." He said, cutting me off and angrily turning his back at me to leave. I look at him disbelief. Just what is his problem? He won't even let me finish what I had to say! What did I do that made him that angry? I just sighed to calm myself and continued to climb upstairs. Don't mind him, Juvia. He's just in a foul mood today. Well, when was he in a good mood anyway?
_______
"Oh, you're early Juvia!" Kazuki-san said in surprise. I just chuckled nervously as I hid the small envelope at my back. I saw him frown when he probably saw that I was apprehensive.
"Is there a problem?" He asked worriedly. I sighed as I bit my lip.
"I have to tell you something, Sir." I said. I saw him put his pen down and looked at me.
"Go on, then."
"Sir, I really enjoyed the time we had together in this office. You have been a wonderful boss; because of you, I enjoyed this job. I'm so thankful to be your secretary and I'm so happy to be a part of your company...but, as they say, nothing lasts forever." I said and smiled at him but his frown never left his face.
"Is this what I'm thinking it is?"
"I'm so sorry, Sir. Here's my resignation letter," I sighed and I handed my resignation letter to him.
"What are you doing?" Kazuki-san exclaimed, still not accepting the letter on my outstretched hands.
"I wish to leave Leon Dale immediately, Sir." I said. I looked at him and I saw pain in his eyes. I quickly averted my gaze from him. He's giving me a hard time. Aside from being my boss, he has been my close friend, and leaving him is a tall order.
"I won't accept that." He hissed in a serious, monotonous voice. My eyes widened and I looked at him.
"Sir, you need to accept my resignation, please!" I said in a pleading way, my arms still outstretched.
"Just why Juvia?" He exclaimed, his voice becoming angry.
"B-Because..."
"Because what?!" He said, raising his voice. "I need an explanation, Juvia! Explain now!"
"Because I can't work with you anymore...I-I found a new job. It pays twice as much as I am making here. You know that balancing my personal finances is tough, Kazuki-san." I lied. I looked at him just to see him in pain, but it is better this way. It is better to hurt his feelings because if I don't, he won't accept my resignation. He grabbed the letter from my hands, took his pen, and signed it.
"Leave my office now, Miss Lockser, and process your clearance from HR immediately," I gasped at how cold and emotionless his voice is. He gave me back the signed letter, almost throwing it at me. I bowed my head before leaving.
"Goodbye, Sir. I am thankful to have been a part of your company."
________
I groaned when I felt pain in my back but it's worth it since I'm finally done cleaning my office. I shall go home now. I threw most of the things in my office since I won't need them anymore and stuffed important documents in a box with a turnover report to be collected by Kazuki-san and HR.I locked my office door. I sighed before leaving. I will definitely miss this place. This is my first decent work here. Oh, if only Magnolia isn't that far from here, I'm still gonna stay here but sadly, sometimes, you just can't have what you want.
I surrendered my ID, access badge, and office keys at the security desk. I was about to leave the building of Leon Dale Company, but then someone grabbed my arm, stopping me from walking.
"Juvia," My eyes widen in shock when I heard his voice. I thought he's still angry at me.
"K-Kazuki-san."
"I'm sorry for my behavior earlier. It's unlikely of me. I'm just angry because I'm all alone now. You know that I don't easily trust anyone in the office, not especially now with the current situation I'm having with my father and his mistress' involvement in the business. I just feel that no one will understand me anymore, not as much as you had. I'm sad, that's all. I'm so sorry for what I did earlier. I should have shown a little more restraint." He chuckled shyly as he scratched his nape.
"Don't worry, Sir. Even if we part ways now, I'll still support you. We can still exchange text messages, emails, or calls. I will still hear you out. Don't think that you're alone. I'm here. I'm just in a far away place, but know that I am with you in spirit." I said and smiled at him.
"Ah~! Stop that Juvia! You're making my heart melt! You're making it harder for me to move on!" He smirked teasingly. I was shocked when he suddenly pulled me into a tight hug.
"I'm gonna miss you," He said. That made me blush. I admit this is making me uncomfortable. I gently tried to disentangle myself from him, but his hold was tight.
"Juvia." A dangerously cold voice broke Kazuki-san's embrace. I looked at where the voice came from and I was stunned as I tensed up inside. Why is he here?
"Oh, Mr. Fullbuster! What are you doing here?" Kazuki-san asked; his surprise is written all over his face. Gray never bothered to answer and instead he moved towards us and grabbed hold of me.
"I'm taking her home, Kazuki." As he said that, he dragged me towards his car and pushed me inside. I saw how bewildered Kazuki-san looked as he watched us.
"What was that all about?!" I hissed at Gray, as soon as he got to the driver's seat. He came here to make a scene!?
"What? I'm just taking you home." He said, playing innocent. I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
"I'm not in the list of your responsibilities. You don't need to take me home. I can do that myself, thank you very much." I hissed and was about to get out, when he quickly reached over me and buckled the seatbelt, locking me in place.
"What are you saying? You're my wife, you're the mother of my children. Of course, you're one of my responsibilities," He told me and smirked. I glared at him as if he grew a second head. I'm baffled by what he just said. He looked back and his smirk grew wider. What the hell? Wife?! That ended when I decided to erase the idea of "us" and left him 5 years ago! He's gone insane!"Just a reminder. We are still married, Juvia." He started the car and glared at me before driving off.
