Gray POV

"Let's just say that I wish I wouldn't have known the things that I learned from knowing her, Sir."

Just what did that guy mean? I stared at the flash drive. I was more curious about the contents of that thing that I didn't bother checking the other stuff he gave me. I am now in my bedroom in my mansion here in Magnolia. I had a long day in the office and that man's words had baffled me to no end.

Does this contain evidence to my speculation about her and Kazuki? Or is it with another man?

Well, there's only one way to find out. I walked over to the TV in my room and plugged in the flash drive. I turned the TV on and sat on the end of my bed as I fiddled with the remote control to get to the files in the flash drive.

I opened a folder and found several videos. I started with the very first one.

Juvia appeared, seated on a chair. The camera seems to be mounted before the chair and table across her. The timestamp on the video tells me this was about 5 years ago. She was fiddling with her thumbs, a tell-tale sign that she was anxious. She was inside what seemed to be a dull white room. Somebody entered the room and sat before her.

It seems like a doctor, a woman probably in her late fifties, but with a head still full of dull, pink hair.

"Good morning, I am Porlyusica. I have double specializations in oncology and pathology. I head Lamia Scale Teaching Hospital's Center for Experimental Studies, of which is largely sponsored by the state, many pharmaceutical companies, private charities and organizations, and some private individuals. Our mission is to help patients who are either financially incapable of treatment for cancer or for tumor management or those who seek to be cured in ways not yet approved for medical practice. Our goal is to eventually discover cures to help fight cancer and dissolve tumors through non-invasive methods. This institution has had many successful experiments that are now used around the world to save lives."

Juvia stopped fiddling with her thumbs and gave a curt nod to the doctor.

"Prior to this, you gave us your consent to film these interviews, yes?"

"Yes."

"For documentation, you, Juvia Fullbuster--"

"Lockser. Well, I... I haven't divorced yet but I have already separated from my ex-husband. I wrote my married name because I was worried that you might not accept my maiden name. But please, I've been through a tough separation from him. I wish to be called my maiden name, if that will be all right." Juvia replied and bit her lip.

"It's Juvia Lockser, then. You had signed up for a longitudinal clinical trial for the cure of brain tumor through non-invasive methods and to subject yourself for testing pain management and tumor management breakthroughs for pregnant women diagnosed with brain tumor."

What. What the fuck.

"Yes," I see Juvia nod in the footage, her voice subdued, "that is correct."

"As such, we are thankful for you volunteering to dedicate yourself to this exploratory science. You are to receive treatments, procedures, consultations, and other benefits, 100% shouldered by our sponsors. We consider ourselves fortunate to have you working with us in order to help the science of medicine to discover milestones in pain and tumor management. You are...the first pregnant woman to agree to undergo our procedures. We have been looking for a long time to find candidates for this program. We find them, yes, but we also understand their apprehensions."

Juvia gave a small smile and said, "I am glad to help."

"We are also going to call a lawyer for you, to be your legal counsel. There is no need to pay the lawyer since she had selected this case to work pro bono." The doctor told her, "Since you're worried about legalities, you can also have her arrange papers for you to hold right to use your maiden name, despite your current marital status."
