To the Moon and Back

Together

It was around 530 when we were pulling in. When we got our I smelled fresh BBQ on the grill and the  fresh country air. I heard the boys laughing and a dog barking. Luke came over and put his hand on my back.

"What's the smile for?" He asked.
"I've always dreamed of this Luke."

He kissed my head.

"Let's go get our boys."

We walked up and she had the door open just the screen was closed. We walked in and the wooden screen door slammed behind us. His mom peaked around from the kitchen. She went to say something but he held his finger up to his lips.

We walked through the kitchen and out the back door. That screen slammed. The boys were running and throwing a ball for the dog. They looked.

"Daddy! Mommy!" Tate yelled and came running over.

Bo looked scared we were there since Luke he just yelled at him.

"Come here Bo you aren't in trouble" I said. He came running over and hugged us.

"Luke what are you doing here?" Mama asked.
"We missed our boys" he said.
"Well come sit and eat!" She said.

It was 10 by the time we were leaving in. After we got the kids all buckled we were on our way home.

"Daddy" bo said.
"Yes sir?"
"Can we stay up when we get home?"
"No buddy but listen how about we get up early and go fishing."
"Really!?"
"Yes really. I will pack lunch. We will go out on the boat and everything."

When we got home we tucked the boys in and then we went downstairs.

"So what can I do?" I asked excited.
"Come over here and kiss me." He said smiling.

I walked over and he leaned against the kitchen counter and started kissing me. He slid his hands up my shirt. I stopped him.

"Not with the boys here" I said.
"Kells... come on..."
"Please Luke not tonight you know they will want to come in and cuddle in the middle of the night I already have to change the bedding in there."
"I truly love you. No other women would be more worried about the boys than you are. I love you so much and you are going to make a great mom someday you put those boys first and they aren't even yours" he said I smiled.

He gave me another kiss.

"So I have to go put the poles and stuff in my truck and the boat on it. You can either help me or pack a lunch."
"What do you want me to pack?!" I asked excited.
"Some sandwiches, some snacks, drinks. Whatever you think darling"
"Okay." I said and we both went off to do our things.

I found a picnic basket in the pantry. I went out onto the back porch and grabbed the Yeti cooler.

I put waters, juices, and some beers in there. I rolled it out and sat it on the front porch. I grabbed to bread and buns out of the bread box. I grabbed the stuff to do the sandwiches. I was almost dons when I heard a loud bang. I ran up the steps and Tate had climbed out of his crib. He was screaming. I ran and held him.

"Tater bug you okay baby?" I asked him. Bo came running in.
"Go get daddy he's outside" I said. Tate close his eyes.
"No no no buddy you have to stay awake." I said. He opened them still crying. Luke came running in and knelt down next to us.
"Dadadadadddyyyy!" He screamed. I went to hand him to Luke but he held onto me. Luke pushed his hair back.
"I'm right here buddy." He said.

I felt a big bump on the side of his head.

"Bobo?" I said. He looked scared.
"YeH?" He asked.
"Can you please go get me a flash light"
"Yeah!" He said running away. Luke looked confused.
"Checking for a concussion." I said.

He nodded.

"Hey tater bug" I said since he was done crying.
"Ya?" He asked.
"I'm going to shine a bright light into your eyes okay"
"Hurt???" He said starting to cry again.
"No no no it won't hurt!"

Bo came and handed me the flash light.

"Ready?" I asked holding him in one arm now. He nodded.

I check his left eye and I got a good reaction. I checked his right one and also a good reaction.

"Looking good buddy. Now. Stand please." I said he stood up
"Big and tall!" I said and he puffed his chest out. I laughed.
"Tell me when it hurts okay?"
"Otayy!"

I touched his shoulders and nothing. I move down his arms nothing. His legs nothing.

"Arms up!" I said he giggled. I pushed on his ribs and nothing.
"Turn around and touch your toes." I said he laughed as he did and I checked his spine. He stood up and I checked his neck. All good. I pushed on the front of his head he was fine and so was the back I pushed on the right side and he was fine I barely laid my finger on the left side and he screamed. I held him.

"Do we need to take him somewhere?" Luke asked jumping up.
"Chill" I said.
"Hey let's go get you so Ice to put on it and some Tylenol okay." I said smiling.
"Cookie?" He asked.
"And a cookie."
"Yes sir"

The next morning we were up at 5am to go fishing. Tate slept with us all night he was feeling a lot better. Both of the boys had fallen asleep already. Luke reached over for my hand.

"Kelly you were amazing last night thank you so so much!" He said kissing my hand.
"It's my job now."
"Listen I have a question for you."
"Yes?" I said hoping he'd ask me to marry him!
"What if that was your only job? What if you didn't go to school? What if you could come out on tour with me whenever you wanted and have the boys whenever?" He asked... I froze I didn't know what to say.
