To the Moon and Back

Game Time

It was my first game, none the less my home opener. My heart was pounding. My legs were shaking as I sat on the bench leaned over.

"Kells!" Jaylee said. She was a junior.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Nervous? Stomach hurt?" She asked.
"Yeah super bad."
"Want some stuff to calm your nerves?" She asked. I thought back to that night of my game when I accidentally took stuff... then I thought about how I almost lost Luke.
"Nah... I'll be good...."
"It's your funeral out there." She said walking away.

Coach came in.

"Alright girls, first game of the season! First home game! First college game ever for some of you! Now don't worry about cameras, if they are in your way just run them over. Drink drink drink! Keep your body hydrated, more importantly have fun... but win!" She said. She pointed to me.
"Kells, you're on the first rotation with Jaylee, Chrystal, autumn, and Miranda." She said I was in shock. I was on the rotation with all juniors/seniors.

"Erin" she said to the other freshman.
"Yeah coach?!" She said excited.
"If for some reason Kells gets to tired or god for bid someone gets hurt you're in." She said. I felt terrible....
"Yes coach..." she said looking down.

The Buzzer buzzed it was the end of the First half. I had 18 points on the board, the score was 38 to 46, we were losing. I sat on the bench and drank some Gatorade. I was exhausted.
"Great job out there girls, Kells you are doing amazing." Coach said.
"Seriously you are killing it girl!" Jaylee said giving me a high five.
"So I want to switch some things up. Jaylee I want Kells to try point guard." She said and everyone gasped.
"Coach!" She yelled.
"No coach I'm not ready!" I said right away even if it would be amazing.
"Kells don't let her control this."
"Seriously! I'm not ready. Take me out fully if you want. I'm not taking jaylees spot or am I ready to."

The end of the game, we lost by 3 points 107 to 104.... I was so mad. I just wanted to cry.

"Good game girls! There's always next time, now hit the showers and head home for some sleep" coach said.
"Hey Kells you want to come to my house for a party??" Jaylee asked.
"No thanks girl, my parents are in plus Luke is home. The boys came too."
"Mama Kells." She said laughing.

I jumped in the shower and washed up real fast. After I got dressed I walked out to the gym. Mostly everyone was gone already. It was mainly families left.

"Mama!!!" Tate and Bo both screamed as they came over. I leaned down and hugged them.
"Sorry you lost." Bo said.
"It is okay little man." I said nothing they had jerseys on.
"New Jersey's?" I asked. They both turned around it was my jersey with my name. I got tears in my eyes. I looked and Luke had one on too. My mom and dad had the basketball mom and dad shirts on.

"I love you guys." I said.
"Ice cream "??" Tate Asked.
"I lost bud..." I said.
"So you did good mama you deserve it not only for being the greatest basketball player but the greatest mama."
I picked both of the boys up.

"As much ice cream as y'all want!"

Whenever we got home the boys were passed out. My parents skipped ice cream and went home. We both carried the boys in. After we put them to bed we went to our room. I crashed on the bed.

"Thank god class isn't until noon tomorrow!" I said excited.
"Skip it. Your parents are taking the boys to the zoo I'll skip recording. Me and you in bed all day?" He said smiling.
"So tempting but I have a test I need to take and I have to study for it now."
"Okay darling."

I sat on the floor of our room with my books and papers spread out. Luke walked out of the bathroom in just a towel... damn... he walked passed me to grab underwear. He did and his towel dropped to the floor. He had a boner. He put his boxers on and looked st me as he bent down to get his towel.

"Yes?" He asked.
"Why so turned on" I asked.
"One thinking of you and two I had to do some stuff with it in the shower since my fiancé denied me"
"I'm going down stairs." I said laughing grabbing my stuff.

I walked downstairs and sat up at the bar at the island. I grabbed a water and some chips. About an hour later I heard someone coming down. I turned to see my dad.

"Hey dad." I said confused.
"Wow look at you studying." He said smiling.
"Why you up?"
"Needed a drink watcha studying?" He asked sitting down after grabbing a bottle of water.
"Trig..." I said sighing afterwards.
"When did you test into Trig?" He asked surprised.
"Ugh... stupid I know. Worse thing ever."
"Need some help?"
"You remember?!?" I said surprised.
"Uh yeah some. Here let's see." He said grabbing my notebook.
