Chapter 3

I wake up and look at the time great 4 a.m. I try to go back to sleep but I can't. I get up and go downstairs and drink a cup of hot chocolate, then I go back upstairs to my room and try to sleep again. I can't sleep damnit!! I get up again and go downstairs and sit outside on my front porch. I just sit on the steps and breathe in the air. I hear a skateboard coming I turn my head and I see Jeff riding on his skateboard.

"Mia?" Jeff says as he stops the skateboard.

"Jeff?" I say raising my eyebrow

"What are you doing out here at 4 in the morning."

"I can ask the same for you."

"I couldn't sleep." Jeff sits down on one of the steps.

"Yea me neither so I decided to sit out here."

"And we have school in three hours."

"I know guess I'm gonna be sleepy during school."

"So will I." Jeff says then he giggles.

I get up off the steps and i walk towards the door I go inside put my shoes on and I grab my skateboard. I come back outside and smile at Jeff.

"Wanna go?" I say as I hold up my skateboard.

"Yea sure." Jeff gets up and stands on the skateboard we start riding together and then we race in the empty streets.

We go to the park and take a break and walk around we sit on the swings and talk.

"I think Ima take a sick Day tomorrow." I say as I swing slowly on the swing.

"Why?" Jeff says.

"Because it's five in the morning."

"Yea you're right but it was a nice night tonight."

"Yea it was."

"But I gotta go home before someone checks on me in my room and my mom would freak out if I'm not there." I say getting up and grabbing my skateboard.

"Can I at least walk you home?" Jeff says.

"Yea sure but I'll race you."

"Okay fine, but if you lose you gotta go on a date with me."

"Okay if you lose you have to paint my nails and watch chick flicks with me."

"Really?" Jeff says raising his eyebrow.

"Yep." I say crossing my arms.

"Okay deal."

We get on our skateboards and have a countdown.
"3....2.....1!" Jeff says as we are in position.

I push with my right foot and I go fast Jeff catches up and I push harder and then we go down a hill and I can see my house a block away so I push harder with my foot. I get closer and closer then I finally reach my house. I stop and wait for Jeff.

I smile and Jeff catches up.

"Fine you won." Jeff says.

I start to laugh and I walk towards my door I turn around before I walk inside.

"Goodnight Atkins." I say.

"Goodnight Anderson." Jeff says to me. I walk inside and I close the door behind me. I walk in my house quietly and I go into my room and lay down. It's six in the morning and I hear my parents get up and go to work I stay home and sleep.

I wake up and it's eleven in the morning I get up and I eat a bowl of cereal after I take a shower and get dressed and I go for a walk around the town. I go into monéts and get a coffee I sit down and read until I get a text message I put my book down and pick my phone up.

Jeff: hey where are you?
Mia: I told you I wasn't
Coming. 😂
Jeff: yea you did.
Mia: are we still on for
Tonight?👀
Jeff: yes we are and
Watch your nails are going
To look so pretty 😂💅
Mia: I'll believe it when I
See it.
Jeff: yea,yea but I'll text
You later I have to get to
Class.
Mia: bye😊❤️
Jeff: bye ❤️😌

I turn off my phone and continue to read my book. Hours passed by and I put my book in my purse and I leave monéts.

I walk around and then I go to the store and just look at their clothes, I grab a few clothes and I try them on. Once I finish trying on clothes I go to the checkout and I buy the clothes then on the corner of my eyes I see Jeff walking with his book bag and his letterman jacket on.

Once I pay for my stuff I grab the shopping bag and go out the store, then I catch up to Jeff.

"Hey Jeff." I say as I approach him.

"Oh hey Mia." Jeff smiles at me.

"What you doing?"

"Walking to monéts."

"Oh okay." I say.

"What are you doing?"

"Just finished shopping."

"What did you get."

"Clothes and nail polish for tonight."

"Oh shit I forgot about that."

"Well I'm here to remind you."

"Thank you for that."

"Well I'm going home so I'll see you later."

"Uh you don't wanna go with me to monéts."

"I just had coffee from here."

"Oh okay."

"We'll see ya later." I say as i wave to him goodbye.

"Bye Mia." Jeff waves back and smiles.

I walk to my house and I set my new clothes in my closet and I just take my shoes off, change into comfy clothes and I put my hair into a ponytail.

I open the backdoor and my puppy ginger runs out into the yard. I go outside and sit on the grass and play with her.

I play fetch with her and then I hear clays voice.

"Hey Mia." Clay says as walks close up to the yard gate.

I turn around and see clay.
"Oh hey clay." I say while I rub gingers belly."

"You weren't at school today."

"Yea I know."

"Well you didn't miss much."

"Oh good."

"But you do have a shit ton of homework."

"Shit." I say under my breath, of course clay would bring me the homework.
