Laura's POV

"Do you want to come and have lunch with me?" I asked Nick as we exited the Arts room.

"Sit with you, Kaiden and Lexi?" He asked, perplexed.

Nodding, I gave him a reassuring smile. "Yes, don't worry. Everything will be ok."

Although I was saying it would all be fine, I didn't know how Kaiden would react when Nick came and ate lunch with us. As we approached the cafeteria doors a knot formed in my stomach. I knew he would be mad but I had to pray that he would understand my side of the story.
The noise hit my ears first as Nick held the dark blue door open for me. It was easy to fine my friends because they sat at our usual table, at the back of the room out of the view of everyone. Weaving my way through the cafeteria was started to get more difficult the bigger I got, did the school not consider how hard it was for a pregnant person?

As we got closer to the table Kaiden's warm voice and Lexi's excited laugh drifted toward me. Taking my usual spot next to Kaiden, I motioned for Nick to take a seat next to my smiling best friend.

"Hey beautiful," Kaiden greeted, planting a small kiss on my temple.

"Hello." I replied, smiling to myself.

As Nick sat down I instantly felt Kaiden's body go rigid beside me. Lexi shot me a confused look before turning and greeting Nick.

"Laura, what is he doing here?" Kaiden whispered so only I could hear.

Looking at his face, I replied. "He's my friend Kaiden, I asked him to come and have lunch with us."

"Laura," He started.

"No Kaiden," I interrupted, growing inpatient. "I don't want to argue about something as stupid as this. There are no feelings there anymore, you have to trust me."

"I do," He admitted. "Fine, I guess I can handle one simple lunch with the guy."

Sending me a small smile, he turned his attention back to his lunch and the small amount of conversation that was circling our table. Just as I was about to join in on a debate about whether prom was a necessity or not, Connor slammed his hands down on the flimsy plastic table.

"What are you guys doing tomorrow night?" He questioned, address us all but clearly only speaking to Kaiden.

"Nothing," We all replied in unison.

"Eric is having a house party and he wanted me to invite you all."

Kaiden shook his head, "I don't think Laura should go to a house party in her condition."

"I'll go," Lexi interjected.

Nick nodded his head in agreement, "I'm down as well."

Turning my attention to Kaiden I smiled, "I think you should go."

"What?" He asked, confused.

"I think you should go and have some fun with your friends. Might be the last time you can do something like that for a while."

"Exactly," Connor agreed. "Sort of like the last hurrah before your life changes."

Shaking his head, Kaiden's eyes searched my face. "Are you sure? I don't want to leave you alone."

"I'll be fine, Harley is home for the weekend so I'll probably just hang out with him at the house." Smiling, I linked my fingers through his. "Totally safe, I swear."
