~Laura's POV~

Gently opening my eyes I had no idea where I was. Loud music pounded from outside the door along with an insane amount of yelling. Shifting my weight to the side I felt a large body push up beside me, my breath momentarily caught in my throat until the memories of the past couple of hours came back.
Suddenly the room was showered in light and the music suddenly became deafening. Standing in the door was a silhouette of someone I couldn't recognize, quickly I shook Kaiden who was sleeping soundly next to me.

"What?" He moaned as he woke from his slumber.

"Look what I found here everybody!" I remembered the voice that was now yelling into the crowded house. Connor A.K.A, Kaidens best friend.
Shit.

"Connor? What are you doing?" Kaiden asked, rubbing sleep from his dazed eyes.

"When you didn't come back from putting the outcast to bed I came looking, and here you are snuggled up to non-other than Laura Evans."

"Man, stop being a dick." Groggily Kaiden pushed himself up off the mattress. kicking my legs off the side of the bed I stood too, not entirely sure what to do next.

"Why are you suddenly so protective of her?"

"What's with the twenty questions? Drop it." He shot back sarcastically.

"Sure she has a fit body but man there are two blondes out there with you name on their tits, literally I watched them write it ten minutes ago."

Suddenly my stomach lurched and I couldn't help it, collapsing onto my knees I emptied my stomach all over Connors floor.
Perfect.
"What the fuck!" Connor yelled, jumping away as if I had the plague. "Get out."

I didn't have time to respond before another wave caused my body to start dry heaving, my cheeks reddened once I was able to stop. I was embarrassed but not because I'd just thrown up all over someone's room but because it was Kaiden's best friends bedroom. Before I could stand up I felt a warm hand press against my back, looking up my eyes were met with Kaiden's warm smile.

"You want to head home?"

"You're leaving? With her?" Connor asked confused.

Kaiden turned to him while wrapping a protective arm around my waist, "Yeah I am, I'll see you at school."

"You don't have to leave I'm fine to get home by myself. We aren't together Kaiden." I said as we walked out to my car.

"You're right but I promised to take care of you."

Sighing I untangled myself from his grip, "We aren't together and don't think that because I'm having your kid that you need to protect me. I have done fine for the past seventeen years without you."

Offering me a smug look he walked to the drivers seat. "Just except it Laura and move on."

                                                                                                     ***

After dropping Kaiden at his place I went straight home to bed. Even though I'd slept through most of the party I was still exhausted. Every light was off apart from one in the study. Quietly I tip toed over to the door and peeked in. My mom sat hunched over her laptop typing furiously like the key board was on fire. Clearing my throat I made my presence known then entered the small dimly lit room.

"I just wanted to let you know I'm home."

"What time do you call this Laura? It's almost twelve thirty, for someone in your condition you shouldn't be staying out at parties all night." She replied, not looking up from her screen once.

"I fell asleep and only woke up half an hour ago."

"I don't want to hear excuses Laura," She sighed. "Just go to bed."

"Mom look at me?" A single tear trailed down my cheek but I didn't bother to wipe it away.

She shook her head, "You are no longer the daughter I raised. You have brought shame on this family Laura Olivier Evans. Your father and brother might be alright with what you have gotten yourself into but I'm being realistic." Turning in her chair her hawk like yes gouged into my skin, "How will you go to college and get a good job with a baby on your hip?"

"I don't know but I'll sort it out mom."

"No you won't. Your life is over and you will not listen to my warnings."

Standing she pushed past me without looking back. My chest ached as my throat constricted with silent tears, the one person I needed help from the most wasn't going to be there.

Pushing the thought away I made my way up the stairs, heading straight for my room. Closing the door I stood before the floor length mirror that hung from my wall. I didn't look any different but in a few short months I would have a round belly and swollen ankles.

Slipping into a loose fitted shirt I scooted under the blankets and welcomed the warmth and comfort the feather quilt offered.

For the second time that night I drifted off to a dreamless sleep with only one thought it my mind as the world faded away.

I was going to be a mother but I wouldn't change it for the world.
