~Laura's POV~
"Happy Birthday!" Lexi yelled from the end of the hall.
"Shush Lexi! I don't want anyone to know."
"Know what?" Kaiden asked, suddenly appearing behind me.
Lexi giggled, "That today is her eighteenth birthday."
"Really?" He asked, his attention turned to me.
Nodding once I slammed my locker shut and walked away. I didn't get that far before I was being pulled back by my wrist.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Kaiden whispered.
Shrugging I pulled my arm free from his grasp, "I don't know, I didn't think it was important?" It came out sounding more like a question than a statement.
"Of course it is, I have to get you something."
"Kaiden, we aren't together you don't have to get me anything."
"Yes I do."
Crossing my arms over my chest I replied, "No you really don't. Yeah I'm having your baby but let's not pretend you actually care about me."
"Laur-"
"Save it Kaiden, thank you but no thank you." Turning on my heel I walked as fast as my legs would take me.
I don't want to owe him anything. If I wasn't drunk that night and completely out of my mind I wouldn't have slept with him and I probably wouldn't be in the predicament I was now in. Of course I liked him and my feeling grew as the days went on but I was never his type.
Once around the corner I slowed to a steady walk as I headed towards Art.Subconsciously my hand drifted to my swollen stomach, making protective and soothing circles around the stretched skin. For days after I decided to make it public people would star and point as I walked past, now it was like I was old news.
Occasionally I would find people looking at me but apart from that I was left alone.
Thank god.
The fact that Kaiden was the father caused more of a stir than the fact I was actually pregnant. I'd been given invitations from his friends to sit with them at lunch, but had respectfully declined when I heard them bitching about me in the lunch room.
It's amazing what you can find out when you're a complete outcast, when nobody notices you standing behind them. The same day I heard his friend Connor complaining about the fact I did this to tie him down I also found out that Kaiden had been to a party the night before and slept with a couple girls from the next school over. Even though we weren't together the thought of him with someone else still stung.Pushing the thought out of my mind I found my seat at the edge of the Art Classroom. Gathering my things from my small locker I continued the water color painting I'd started the lesson before. Going to work I drew line after line on the white paper before running the wet paintbrush across like pastel.
I'd always had a soft spot for art, it was my escape. I hadn't even realized someone had sat next to me until they put a hand on my arm. Jumping back I almost knocked the water all over the table."Sorry I didn't mean to scare you." An unfamiliar voice apologized.
"Its fine, I'm just a little jumpy." Laughing at myself I looked up and was met by sparkling blue eyes and dark brown hair. "Do I know you?"
Shaking his head the stranger replied, "No I'm new, I started yesterday."
"Oh, hello."
I looked over at the tall boy that had broken my concentration. Dark hair fell to just below his ears in soft subtle waves, dark lashed cloaked his bright blue eyes making it look almost like he's wearing eye liner. He had a strong jaw and broad shoulders, the body of a football player. Shaking my head I finished my silent observation and concentrated on what the he was saying.
