~Laura's POV~

"Damn it Kaiden, I'm fine." I barked, roaming my eyes over the worried face of the man I love. "I might be pregnant but I am not an invalid."

Groaning he lent against the large wooden headboard that towered over the mattress of my overused bed. "I can't help it if I want to help you."

The mischievous smile I've come to know and love graces his face at full force. I could see he only wanted to help but when you've been bedridden for a week, manners go out the window. Rolling my head to the side, I smiled weakly back at him.

"I'm sorry, I know I've been nothing but rude and cranky for the past few days but I am just so tired of sleeping."

His eyes warmed as he snuggled me into the crook of his arm. "I know, only a few more days then the doctor will let us know what's happening." His eyes, grey with fatigue. "I love you Laura, you know that right?"

"Of course." I confirm. Kaiden was the only thing I ever thought about, and the baby of course. "Why do you ask?"

"Just making sure you know." Kaidens voice deepened as his eyes slowly closed.

Within minutes his breathing began to soften, the slight rise and fall of his chest signaling sleep had finally overcome him.

Moving as slowly and as purposely as possibly, I wiggled free of his hold without waking him. Lowering my feet to the floor, I hiss as the cold bites at my swollen toes, the old floorboards creaking under my weight. This was the first time I had been able to get out of bed without someone basically lifting me off the ground since I left the hospital just under a week ago.
After being given the all clear I was ordered on bed rest for the next week and a half until the doctor could confirm I was fine.
Of course I was fine but nobody would listen to me. The whole thing was a blur really. A series of images that came trickling back into the forefront my mind a couple of days later. The doctors were confused because everything looked fine, the baby was healthy and so was I. I suppose my body just decided to have a moment, I hope.

Wrapping a woolen cardigan around my ever growing stomach, I tiptoed over to the door hoping to make as little noise as possible.

"What are you doing?" His voice was thick with sleep even though his eyes had only shut moment ago. "Get back into bed."

"Kaiden, I can't. I need to move out of this bedroom. At least let me go downstairs to watch television?"

Kaiden rubbed his eyes, clearing the fog from his view before jumping off the bed and making his way lazily over to my side. Placing a hand on the small of my back he opened the door and waited, an easy smile on his face. "If you want to go downstairs I'm not going to stop you but I will be there to carry you if need be."

"My hero." I mocked.

Stepping past his outstretched hand my aching body rejoiced as the muscles began to stretch and return to their normal size. Slowly we descended the stairs, careful to watch where my feet were going even though it was growing more and more difficult to see past my huge stomach.

"I swear you'd think I had a beach ball shoved under my shirt," I groaned. "My nail polish probably looks terrifying. It's been ages since I was able to see my toes."

Kaiden chuckled, his hand never leaving my back. "They look fine from where I'm standing."

Stopping I threw a questioning look over my shoulder, "From where you're standing you probably can't see them either."
