The Girl Covered in Ashes AUs

Reina: Just testing something out. Earlier I said I wasn't going to do this, but I'm curious to see what you guys think.

These AUs start after Marth is told she can't go to the ball, so she runs to the garden. These AUs do come in different sizes though....

The AUs are listed by numbers to prevent spoilers.

AU 1

Once her family was out of the house, Marth dashed to the garden and burst into tears.

"I DON'T WANT TO STAY HERE!" She wailed. "I WANT TO GO TO THE BALL!"

"Stop crying. It's annoying."

Marth sniffed and turned around to see a woman in a dark robe, holding a tome in her hands.

"Wh-Who are you?" Marth hiccups.

"I am your Dark Fairy Godmother Tharja. I'm here because your old fairy godmother Ashera failed to keep you safe, although I wish she actually did do her job, because I know nothing about you."

Marth sighed and began to talk. "My mother d-died and my father rem-remarried a woman with two daughters. They all abu-abuse me and they w-won't l-let m-me-" she breaks out into sobs.

Tharja taps her fingers to her chin for a moment. "I could let you go to the ball, but your family might get mad at you... I'll make them pay."

"Huh?"

"Come with me," Tharja demands as she opens a portal. Marth blinks and follows, and soon she was at the ball.

"Wow...." she whispered.

No one paid attention to her. Tharja turns her head to look at Marth. "Oh, they can't see us. So don't even try to talk to anyone."

"So I can't dance?" Marth frowns.

"Who said anything about dancing?" Tharja replies as she opens up her tome.

Marth looks around and gasps. "My stepsisters..."

Tharja looks up and sees Brunnya and Idenn cornering the prince, while Aversa and Cornelius watch.

"THAT'S your family?" Tharja gapes. She had heard stories about Marth's mistreatments, but it was another thing to see it.

Marth nods fearfully.

Tharja grins evilly. "This'll be so much fun....." She held her hand out and yelled something. Suddenly, Cornelius, Aversa, Idenn, and Brunnya were covered in darkness and began to attack the other partygoers.

"What did you do?" Marth demands.

"I hexed them. They'll expose their deepest, darkest desires, and will hopefully get arrested so that you inherit your father's titles."

"But why?"

"I told you. I'm a Dark Fairy Godmother." Tharja opens another portal, but pauses.

"Goodbye, Marth. I found my soulmate."

Marth gave Tharja a bizarre look before she wound up home, although she did see Tharja approach Roy's retainer Robin....

The next morning, Marth's family was arrested for attacking the other guests, and so she took over her father's lands and lived happily ever after.
