Original Fairy Tale Name: Cap-o'-Rushes (AKA English Cinderella)

Classification: Aarne-Thompson 510B: Unnatural Love

Writer(s): Joseph Jacobs

Once upon a time, there lived a king with three daughters - Sumia, Olivia, and Rina. When the girls reached a certain age, he summoned them to the throne room and posed them a question.

"How much do you love me?" He asked.

Sumia stepped forward carefully to avoid tripping. "Father! I love you more than life itself!"

Olivia stepped forward gracefully and smiled. "I love you more than the world itself! You are the most important thing in the world!"

The king, having his ego fully boosted, turned to his youngest, Rina. Rina smiled at him and simply said -

"Father, I love you more than salt."

Time froze. As the king gaped at Rina and her sisters glanced at her, Rina realized that she worded her sentence incorrectly and grew horrified.

"Father! That's not what I meant! I was trying to say-"

"SILENCE!" He roared. "GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!"

Rina blinked. "But Father-"

"LEAVE!" He yelled.

Scared, Rina dashed out of the castle to avoid getting killed, despite her sisters' protest. She grabbed a tattered cloth on her way out, and as soon as she was in the forest, she assembled a makeshift cloak out of it. It was better to do that than to announce to the world, "I'm a rich girl on my own. Rob me of my jewelry!"

After putting on the cloak, Rina set off to go find a place to sleep. She eventually arrived at a wealthy house. She knocked on the door, and a servant by the name of Jakob opened it.

"Who are you?" Jakob asked.

Rina didn't answer. She didn't want people to know she was a princess, so she responded with, "Can I help clean the place?"

Jakob looked at Rina. Shrugging, he opened the door wider and allowed Rina through. He led her through the place, and eventually showed her the kitchen, where a few other maids and servants were.

"Who's this?" A maid by the name of Flora asked.

"She didn't say," Jakob replied. "She just wanted to clean the place."

Felicia glanced at Rina. "You looked like you rushed when you made your cap."

And so Rina was called Cap O'Rushes.

A few weeks after Rina entered the house, a ball was being thrown.

"I can't wait to see the ball!" Felicia declared happily.

"It'd be interesting to see which rich people come," Dwyer added.

"So basically you guys are people watching," Rina asked as she put some of the plates away.

"In a way," Jakob admitted. "The master is perfectly fine with it."

"That's weird," Rina muttered.

"He just wants to hit on Corrin," Felicia snickered.

Joker glared at Felicia but said nothing. Rina laughed and waved her hand. "I would love to watch the rich as well, but I'm not going."
