Once upon a time, there was a young queen named Azura. She was happily married, but longed for a child. Her husband was unsure of having children, but after a few years, Azura was pregnant and ecstatic. She later gave birth to a boy, whom she named Shigure. Her husband loved Shigure as well, and spent all of his free time with his young son. Azura was happy, and so was her husband.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end at some point.

Azura's husband had to go off to war, leaving her to raise Shigure alone. When Shigure was three years old, the war had ended, but Azura's husband was dead. She was devastated. She then began to rule the kingdom by herself. When Shigure was six, she remarried. Her new husband was named Gangrel.

Gangrel acted as if he loved Azura, but he was a vain man who preferred to have women fall for him. He was a selfish man, insisting on having everything. He had a magic mirror that would tell him who the most handsomest in the land was.

"Magic mirror in my hand, who's the handsomest in the this land?" He would ask the mirror every day.

"You are." It would reply, boasting his ego tremendously.

This went on for years, but neither Shigure nor Azura were aware of what was happening. To them, Gangral was just acting weird.

When Shigure was 15 years old, another war broke out, forcing Azura to led the army. She left Shigure at home and promised to be back within a year.

After seeing Azura off, Gangral pulled out his hand mirror and asked, "Magic mirror in my hand, who's the handsomest in the land."

"Shigure," it deadpanned.

Gangral got pissed. How dare Azura's child steal his title! He grew angry, and plotted to dispose of his stepson. To accomplish this, he summoned a huntsman named Niles to carry it out.

"Niles," he looked at the huntsman. "I order you to dispose of Shigure. Bring me back his heart and his liver."

Niles nodded and set off to do his task. When he approached Shigure near the forest, Shigure looked up at him in fear. Niles froze, realizing that it was the queen's son. Despondent, he grabbed Shigure's hand and dragged him into the forest.

"Where are we going?" Shigure asked.

"Somewhere safe," he replied.

After walking for a while, Niles let go of Shigure and looked at him. "Keep walking down this path. When you see the cottage up ahead, break in through the window."

Shigure looked horrified. "Why would I do that?!"

"The front door is booby-trapped. Also..." He hands a letter to Shigure. "Give this to the first female you see in the house."

Shigure was dumbfounded. "Why?"

"Just do it." Niles left Shigure alone. Sighing, Shigure moved onwards, eventually reaching the house. He did as Niles said, and went in through the window without breaking it.

It was a rather small cottage. It had a living room, a kitchen, and a staircase that lead up to seven beds. While Shigure was exploring, he saw several weapons all around the cottage, flipping him out.
