Cry's pov
I felt bad for drugging Felix but he does need to rest. If we hadn't put him to sleep he probably would have stayed up all night, making excuses for not resting. Well, that and we need to move him without causing him too much pain. When I went to get the things for Felix, Russ informed me of a large herd heading our way. The walls might not hold against such a large amount of dead so we're leaving. Scott has ordered the closest, most trusted people to carry supplies to our back up base. It's located two days north east of here. We can wait out the herd there.
Snake is setting up cameras along the wall so we can monitor the heard from a safe distance and know when it's safe to return here. Everyone is allowed to bring whatever they can carry and that's it. Everything else stays. We can still come back if the place gets trashed for extra supply runs if needed.
"I understand we need to move him but did we really need to do that?" I asked Scott as he stepped into the room.
"It's the best thing for him. His body doesn't need the extra stress. It will just make his condition worse. And this is the least painful way of transporting him," Scott said.
"I still don't understand why he's so cold. He really should have warmed up at least a bit by now. We need to keep him warm while we move but we can only use blankets. That won't be enough though," Red said concerned.
"What if he used someone's body heat to keep warm. Someone will need to hold him anyway so he doesn't move too much in the car," Russ proposed.
"Hmm. That might work. But who will hold him?" Red said in thought. I was going to volunteer but I might be needed for other things.
"I don't trust anyone else outside this room besides Snake but he's driving the supply truck with me. It has to be one of you three in the car. You guys will be taking the truck. It's been refueled after you used it last Cry so don't worry about that," Scott informed. So, it is either me, Russ or Red.
"I'm driving and Red needs to be able to get out quickly in case of a medical emergency so that leaves you Cry," Russ said. I felt a smile crawl onto my face. Glad I wear a mask.
"Sure, I'll do it. As long as he doesn't get hurt," I said casually. Red and Russ shared a glance but Scott seemed concerned.
"Fine, but we leave in an hour so make sure everything is ready. Those drugs will wear off in a few hours at least. We need to be gone by mid day if we want to meet the checkpoint by nightfall. Hopefully the petrol we gathered a while back is still there. We're running quite low after filling all the vehicals," Scott said before leaving the room.
"Stay here and watch over Felix in case something happenes. We'll go prepare the car for you to get in and get comfortable," Russ said, heading towards the door.
"I can help," I offered but Red stopped me.
"No, we got it. If anything happenes then come get me," she said leaving before I could reply.
"What was that about?" I mumbled to myself. I shrugged it off and turned to Felix's resting figure. His golden hair fell over his face as he slouched slightly. That position is not going to do him any good. I better lay him down again.
I gently lay him down and pulled the blankets up so they completely covered him. As I did my hand brushed against his face and shivered ran up my arm. He really was ice cold. If only I could put the heater on, but I can't. The power is going to be turned off to save energy.
Felix shifted slightly and his expression contorted. His breathing picked up and he whispered inaudible words. He must be having another nightmare. I wonder what the cause is this time. Probably a relay of the recent events. He did nearly drown then got shot within a few hours, on the same day. That's pretty scary for a guy like Felix.
I pushed his hair out of his face and as my hand came into contact with his skin, his expression relaxed and his breathing slowed again. Was it my skin contact that soothed him or was it just someone stroking his hair? Either way it worked.
~skip to them driving already cause I'm getting bored XP~
"If I had a daughter I would call her Rose. Because roses are red and I love Red," Russ said lovingly. We were talking about what we would name our children if we ever had any and I think Russ has the best answer so far.
"Awe, that's so sweet. Thanks babe," Red said and gave Russ a quick kiss.
"You are very welcome my love," Russ said proudly. "What about you Cry?"
"Hmm. I don't know," I said, rubbing Felix's palm softly.
"Awe come on. You must have some idea. A name you like," Russ urged.
"Fine. Skye, I'd call her Skye," I said, looking out at the open land. I was sitting with my back up against the locked door of the car with Felix laying out across the entire seat. His head resting against my chest.
"Why Skye?" Russ asked.
"Because I love the colour blue and blue is the colour of the sky. It reminds me of bright blue eyes and mixed emotions. The sky can be clear and heart warming or it can be stormy and scary. You can never predict how it's going to be," I said in thought.
"Thats... beautiful. I like Skye," Red said with a smile.
"Same. It has a nice ring to it," Russ added. I smiled but a shift beneath me made my eyes look down. Felix was waking up.
Shitty shit shit fuck balls I suck so muuuuuuuch.
