Depression is never a permanent companion of a human being; but for Raisha the case might be slightly different because it became her friend. For the world, she was a disabled child, whilst for her parents she faked a smile portraying herself as strong as she could but somewhere deep down, she was lost. She didn't recognized who was she anymore? She was just a piece of flesh working day and night, to pass the time.
Her strength was alive only because she had vowed to bring back that lost smile on her parents and brother's face but in all this, the real Raisha was nowhere. She has buried the real self forever, shielding herself with a protective mask of silence and her goals; but how can one human suppress their aching heart inside their chest?
The thought was extremely alien to her mind, and no matter how much ever she tried to find the answer, she felt empty handed.
The troubled conscience still hovering over her, she was climbing the stairs in the Malhotra Mansion when suddenly her knee felt numb, and she felt like her body was slumping down the stairs.
"Raisha, careful," She gripped the railing tightly immediately as if that familiar voice called out to her once again saving her from falling on the ground and hurting herself.
"Aayush!" She whispered his name like a prayer straightening herself on her feet, her eyes searching around hoping that he will emerge out from somewhere and hold her in his arms taking away all the ache from her chest.
"It's good riddance to be away from her!" Once again his cold words echoed in her head changing her entire demeanor. Her soft gaze turned into a more determined one; which was screaming an oath to prove everyone wrong especially him.
"Is it really so relieving for you? Then I wish you stay happy forever!"
She didn't knew why she asked this question or to whom did she even inquire this? Was the recipient of this heartmelting query listening to her plight? Was her voice audible to his ears? Did Raisha's voice really echoed in her Aayush's ears? Did the cool breeze around them which still bounded them together in a heavenly bond, delivered him the message?
The answer was circulating in the air which travelled from the horizon of Lucknow to the playground of Delhi, where he still stood frozen like someone's voice was echoing in his head constantly and as if he got a shock all of a sudden, his tongue slipped the one name which he had tried to forget in the year, but it was etched in his mind.
"Raishaaaaa!" His hand raised in the front, hanging in the air as he called her as if his heart knew that she was in pain. His soul knew that his soulmate was in deep agony crying at her fate, as well as her inability to understand him and his behavior, but there he stood frozen like a rock; totally perplexed by his own actions.
His eyes scanned the entire playground, where he was practicing for his basket ball match for the upcoming school competition. But now he stood there all alone, trapped by his loneliness, and his sorrow on not being able to confront himself in his own eyes.
Why did I call her name suddenly?
His subconscious immediately threw the query at him. Letting out a tired sigh, he walked up to the bench and sat down. Defeat was etched on his face while his eyelids closed on their own as he rested his head on the bench post.
"Missing me?" He heard her voice beside him all of a sudden. Shocked, he snapped his eyes open to see her sitting beside him on the bench with that silent smile of hers that always managed to capture his heart.
His lips twitched in a small smile as his eyes met her green ones. His soft gaze held her warm ones, and he felt like all the tension was leaving his body. It was just her and him sitting beside each other, enjoying the others presence after a year.
