Chapter 28

There are moments in life where you feel like you are doing the write thing but in reality it is so wrong. Let me just say one of those moments is now. I thought coming here would be a good thing. My time to figure out what Josh is hiding.

But I guess not.

This is one of those moments where I wish I was invisible. So I could be able to run away without being noticed. But nothing goes unnoticed these days.

Everyone notices your flaws.

I pierce my lips and slowly get up. Being cautious I make my way towards the group of boys, "Josh." I raise my hand slightly to wave but quickly bring it back down to my side.

He slowly shakes his head, accepting the fact that I am really here. "What are you doing here?"

"Well," I trail laughing to mainly myself. "I paid your friend here a visit."

Josh walks over to me grabbing my sandy hands and pulls me away from the group of boys. I pull my hand away from his and wipe my hands on my jeans to get rid of my sand. I drag my feet along the sand and keep my eyes focused on the little grains of sand below me.

I can feel the tension between Josh and I already. And its suffocating me.

He takes a deep breathe and starts talking.

Which I really wish he didn't because I know that this is just going to lead to a fight which I hope doesn't. Josh just cant seem to hold in his anger, me either. But I try to stay calm.

"You should not be here Elise. These people aren't good." Josh grimaces. He grabs my chin softly and makes me look up at him but I push him away.

"Then why are you here?" I shoot back at him with a hint of edge in my voice.

He raises his eyes to the sky in annoyance and cracks his knuckles. "I have reasons to be here when you don't."

"That doesn't answer my question." I smirk.

Josh kicks the sand below him in anger and in the slight moonlight I can see a bit of his cheeks turning red from anger. Josh should be answering my questions without me having to sneak around and have to figure them out myself.

Because this situation right here,

is what happens.

I shied away in fear at his sudden outburst. I shouldn't be being this devious towards him but I need answers and if this is how I am going to be able to get them. Then so be it.

From the corner of my eye I see Chad impatiently tap his foot while he holds two bags in his hand that are wrapped up in tape. He whistles towards Josh which causes him to whip is head towards him.

"Are you going to make the transaction or not!?" He yells over the sound of crashing waves behind us.

Josh screams out a quick 'yeah' and turns toward me. "Elise stay here and don't move. I don't want you getting hurt."

He gives me a quick peck on the cheek before running off. The small gesture makes my heart warm. He never seems to not make that happen.

I look over to where Josh is and the two friends of Chad stand beside him with a gun in their hands. Josh hands over a stack of cash to Chad and he gives him the two bags. Chad walks away first and Josh makes a sprint in my direction.
