Chapter 22

I walk down the street. The wind blowing through my hair with every step I take. I wrap my scarf tighter around my neck since the wind it making it feel like it is negative thirty. Really shouldn't be surprised at this time of the year about the weather, like come on its winter.

My body swiftly moves through the group of people coming my way. I bump in to one person and the give off a cold vibe towards me. I quickly shake it off and grab the cold handle of the local bakery. Harry helps out here when he isn't on tour. I know he is working today and I want to try and get a job here.

I really need to get out of the house and get my mind off of things.

The bell on the door chimes as I open it and a rush of warm air hits me. I quickly step inside and shut the door behind me loving the warm air hitting my body.

The lady in the front looks up from the book she is reading and flashes me a smile. I flash her one back, but a weak one. At least it was something, give me credit. She looks like she is about in her late 60's, a few gray hairs but you can tell she dyes her hair.

I walk up and place my hands on the counter looking around the place. The lady quickly gets out of her seat and walks in front of me. Only the counter separating us.

"I'm Mary! How can I help you today?" He voice shaky as she speaks, flashing me another welcoming smile.

I look towards the back room, "Is Harry back there?"

She looks to wear my attention is directed, "Ah yes! The lovely boy with chocolate curls. He's there, let me go get him."

I flash her another weak smile as Mary walks into the back room. After a few minutes of scanning the desserts through the glass and deciding I want the chocolate cupcake I see, Harry walks out twisting his head in confusion.

"Something wrong?" He asks as he makes up way around the counter towards me. "Did Katrina send you?"

I quickly shake my head, "Oh no. Shes at home making dinner for later tonight."

"Oh! What is it?"

"Pasta since she is too lazy to make something special." I laugh and Harry chuckles.

"Of course." He adds. He is covered in flour and his hair is tucked under his chef hat. His fingers tap the counter as he loos around.

I look back down at the chocolate cupcake, "Anyways that's not why I am here. I want to know if there's any job openings?" My voice quiet towards the end.

He hums, "Like even if I just have to wash the dishes or something for now!" I quickly add. "Or just help out at least."

He nods his head, "I will see what I can do. I will put a word in and let you know." He smiles.

"Thank you so much! I just need to do something to get out of the house. Get my mind off of things, it's been so stressful lately. Also I need some spare money."

Harry smiles and walks behind the counter, "How about I give you this chocolate cupcake to get your mind off of things. You have been eyeing it since I walked out here."

I roll my eyes and my cheeks heat up red, "Sure." I say as he grabs the cupcake and hands it over to me.
