Marceline's P.O.V.
"What the hell do you want?" I said as we headed into his disgusting car.
It was painted brown, but you could tell it was terrible quality since the paint was chipping off. The seats were ripped, some were molding. Crumpled papers, McDonald's wrappers, and energy drink cans littered the car floor.
"Look. I just want to spend time with you. Little do you know, I was supposed to take care of you every Sunday. But I had to pay my sentence. And your damn mom left me in New York, and she knew my job didn't support me with enough money to come with you guys. It was her little plan."
He began to drive.
"Marshall-"
"Dad you mean."
"I'm sorry did you just interrupt me? Marshall, even if Marcus was still here, Mom would've still left you. You guys always fought. Back in New York, I would be in bed, but the vent was right next to my bed. I heard you guys screaming. I wasn't able to sleep. Marcus would always walk into my room, crying. He always asked me why you guys were fighting. He never knew, neither did I. Guessing it was about your drinking addiction? Or what your job?"
"Marceli-"
"I'm sorry did you just interrupt me, again?"
"Marcus was crying. I had to comfort him cause you two never could. I read him to sleep. He would hug me so tight. He was scared. But that one night. You forgot to pick him up from piano lessons. You were too busy drinking at the bar. You got drunk...but you still drove. You got Marcus. When you got on the freeway, he told you to stop. But you didn't. You got on the bridge, and you were swerving. He was sitting in the front seat. You swerved into the middle of the two lanes, and you slowed down, trying to grab a bottle from the back seat. But you swerved again. Little did you know, there was a car behind you, trying to go in front of you. You hit the car. But the car wasn't on your side. It was on Marcus's. You took away Marcus's life. And that other driver. But that driver for it, didn't you? Too bad you were intoxicated, which is why you had a five year sentence."
"You don't know what you're talking about, Mari."
"I was in the car, Marshall. I was in the seat behind you. How could you forget? I still have the scar the broken glass gave me." I rubbed my thigh, where the scar was located.
"Mari. I'm sorry. Okay?"
"Sorry that you killed your son? Why wouldn't you be sorry?"
He parked the car in an empty lot.
"Mari. Your brother never died."
"What?"
I stared at him in shock.
"They never found the body cause he was rushed to the hospital. The next day after the crash, I bribed the police and the hospital to not tell your mom. Which is why we didn't have enough money for the funeral. Your mom was furious with me. So she left as soon as she could. She left me a note, telling me she just wanted to leave this life behind. But your brother is still alive. He's living with your Uncle Chandler. You know? Your mom's brother...the one who gave her his lasagna secret recipe from his five-star restaurant? That lasagna is so good."
"He's actually...alive?"
Tears streamed down my face.
"That's why I came here. To tell you about Marcus. Look, this gun is just a water gun."
He sprayed the roof of his car with the water gun.
"I'd never hurt Rev, or my daughter."
"Dad! You actually scared me earlier!"
I started to laugh. Maybe things are getting better after all.____________
A/N:Tell me what you think about this chapter. Do you forgive the dad now? Yes? No? Just tell me in the comments :)
