Marcus's P.O.V.
"They should've been here a while ago...," I sighed, tapping on the diner table.
There was only three other customers in the diner. A biker who was taking a stop, and a single mom eating soggy pancakes while cradling her newborn. Well this sure is a lot different from New York...
"Maybe they're just caught up in traffic. You know, your father wants to make sure he doesn't get in another crash," Uncle Chandler joked.
"True."
I checked my watch again. Dad was already ten minutes late. What's taking them so long?
"So...you excited to see your family again?" Uncle asked, sipping his black coffee. His chestnut brown mustache dripped, and he grabbed a napkin to wipe it clean.
"I guess."
"What do you mean? It's your mom and sister! Aren't you happy to finally meet them again?"
"Look Uncle, I don't feel comfortable talking about."
"If you say so..."
He took another big slurp from the mug. I rolled my eyes at the thought of the bland drink. I took out my phone and started texting Conor.
Me: still waiting for my fam to here. I miss u so much :(
Conor: I miss u too. R they close???
Me: idk. I gtg, I'll text u later
Conor: love u xoxo
Me: love u tooI put down my phone as Uncle Chandler asked the young waitress for some more coffee. She had light brown hair and swampy green eyes. Her name tag read "Mel".
Then I heard the front door creek open. I stood up from the booth. I took a deep breath.
"Marcus?" the girl cried.
"Marceline...," I mumbled.
She ran up to me and hugged me tight. Dad came and joined.
"This is nice. We're one big family again," Dad sighed.
Marceline cried heavily on my shoulder. It was quiet for a while.
Then Uncle spoke up,"uh...so where's my sister?"
Just then cops rushed in.
"Papa!" I screamed.
The officers took Dad. I tried to push them away from Dad, but Uncle Chandler held me back.
"NO! I NEED TO SAVE MY DAD!" I screeched.
Marceline just stood there. She didn't know what to do.
The police escorted us out. A woman, and a guy holding a toddler came running towards Marceline.
"Marceline! You're okay!" The woman said, sobbing.
They all hugged her. But then I realized.
"Mom?" I gasped.
She turned towards.
"Wait...what is Chandler doing here?" She asked.
Chandler and Marceline looked at each other, and nodded.
"Melia. This is your son."
