The Different One

Chapter 1

 *This is book 2 in my vampire/werewolf series! If you haven't already you should look at book 1, The Bad Ones. Thank you!*

  I watched my parents carefully, every move. I knew they were hiding something... But what?

Some people call me crazy for it, but they aren't normal! I mean, around the full moon every month they avoid people and are so touchy, and mom is scared of so many weird things, like rats, redheads, rope of any kind, stone buildings.

Right now they were taking a walk through the woods, just a normal walk... Or was it? Ok, maybe I am paranoid about them. And maybe I was also a little worried about them, and secretly I was bored and hoping for some weird supernatural thing to happen.

Dad picked a little blue flower and stuck it in mom's hair, smiling and laughing. They looked so happy...

I hid behind a tree, watching every move, trying to hear what they were saying. I couldn't hear though, so I just watched.

Since their backs were turned, I tried to sneak closer. I made it to the next tree, but still couldn't hear much of their conversation. Just random snippets that meant nothing...

I crept forward a little more, trying to get closer. My mistake though... I stepped on a stick. Geez, I thought that only happened in movies!

Mom and Dad flipped around inhumanly fast. Another weird thing about them, they were super strong and fast.

"Who's there?" Dad called. Mom took a slight step behind him.

Oh well, I guess I should step out... So I stepped out. "S-sorry." I said.

They calmed down almost immediately. "Oh Ray, what are you doing out here?" Mom asked.

Truth or lies... Truth or lies... Truth I guess, maybe I'll get truth in return.

"I was following you." I stated bluntly.

"Why?" Dad asked, exchanging a look with Mom.

"You're hiding something. I want to know what." I told them.

They looked at each other with weird looks on their faces. "Told you." Dad whispered.

"GUYS. What's going on?" I was getting frustrated.

"We should tell her baby..." Dad said.

"Are you sure? What if-" Mom started, biting her lip.

I rolled my eyes. "Mom I'm sixteen now, I can deal with whatever it is!"

Mom looked about to arge but Dad cut in. "Ok, we'll tell you. But you need to promise to never tell anyone. Deal?"

"Yeah, I promise." I said seriously. I wasn't going to mess this up.

"Ok... Well, your Mom and I-" Dad started but Mom cut him off.

"Wait! I need her to make one more promise..."

"Sure Mom, what it is?" I was slightly annoyed with her, but this was obviously very important to her.

"Promise that you'll still love us and not be afraid." She whispered, barely audibly.

"Mom, come on. I could never stop loving you, you'll still be the exact same person whether I know this or not."

Mom smiled, and Dad chuckled. "Just like you were when I first met you..." He whispered to Mom. I had a hard time believing she could've been like me, Mom seemed so timid now.

"Ok, we'll stop putting off and tell you now Ray." Dad said. "Your Mom and I are... Werewolves."

Yes i admitted to be hoping for something supernatural, but I didn't believe it. "Really?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, really." Mom said. I was surprised she was talking that confidentely.

Then I gasped as Mom quickly shifted into a pretty black and honey brown wolf, tongue hanging out of her mouth in a wolfish smile
