*Austin's POV*
*an hour later*
I put the controller down and looked over at Sophia. She was asleep. I smiled and pulled the blanket over her. I looked down at her hands. They were shaking. I frowned.
She opened her eyes and looked up at me. I smiled and touched her hands. She smiled back. "Hi."
"Hey." I said.
She sat up. "I'm sorry I fell asleep."
"Don't worry about it." I said. I pulled my hand away and smiled.
She looked at me and smiled.
'What?" I asked.
She shook her head. "You're just sweet for staying here with me."
I shrugged. "Yeah, I'm a pretty big sweetheart." I smiled at her, she giggled.
She looked around and started twirling her hair around her finger. She looked tense.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
She nodded. "Yeah. Just really craving a drink." She bit her lip and looked at the floor.
I touched her leg. "I'm sorry."
She smiled and looked up at me. "I'll be okay."
I cleared my throat. "Sophia, you can do this."
She laughed and stood up. "Thanks. But you barely know me." She walked over to her suitcase and pulled out a hoodie.
"I may not know you that well, but I can see it in your eyes. You're strong."
She pulled the hoodie on and pulled her hair up in a sloppy bun. "Austin, strong people don't have drinking problems."
"Strong people have the biggest problems." I said.
She sat down and lit a cigarette. "Sweetie, you're nice. But, do me a favor and don't pull that crap. I'm not strong. Complete opposite actually. This tough girl attitude is beyond fake. I'm falling apart inside. That's why I drink."
I shook my head. "You just need someone who will help you."
She laughed. "Someone like who? Like you?"
I frowned. "I never said me. I'm just saying. You need someone to support you."
She put her cigarette out. "I don't need anybody. Never have."
I stood up. "Nice talking to you." I walked out and slammed the door.
*Sophia's POV*
I jumped when Austin slammed the door. I felt bad for being mean, but he was wrong. I don't need anybody. I can do this myself.
I stood up and walked to my bunk and lifted up the blanket. The bottle of vodka I hid there was still there. I bit my lip and reached for it. I looked around and opened it.
"You really wanna do that?" I heard someone say.
I jumped and dropped the bottle. It broke. I turned to see Danny standing in the doorway.
"What the fuck, Danny!" I yelled.
He stepped towards me. "What are you doing, Sophia?"
I crossed my arms and frowned. "Nothing."
"It doesn't look like nothing."
I looked at the floor. "What are you doing here?"
He walked up to me. "Checking on you."
I shook my head. "I don't need a babysitter." I looked up at him.
He motioned to the broken bottle. "Sure looks like you do." He looked into my eyes. "Are you okay?"
My chest tightened and I felt myself start to cry. Danny wrapped his arms around me and I buried my face in his chest.
"I'm so fucking sad, Danny. I don't know how to make these feelings go away without drinking myself numb." I cried. He rubbed my back. "I feel like I'm falling to pieces inside."
"It's okay, Soph." He whispered. "You're gonna be okay."
I sobbed into his chest. My body shook and I felt sick to my stomach. He kept rubbing my back and kissed my head.
"I can't do this, Danny. I'm not strong enough." I said. I pulled away and wiped my eyes.
"Come here." Danny said, pulling me into the back lounge.
He sat me down on the couch and sat next to me. "You're the strongest woman I know. You've been through so much and you're still here."
I shrugged. "Only because I drink till I forget."
He shook his head. "Stop. You get through everyday because your soul is pushing you to do so."
I looked at him. "You really think so?"
Danny took my hand. "I know so."
I pulled my hand away and hugged him. He hugged me and rubbed my back. "We're gonna help you through this."
"We?" I asked.
He nodded. I pulled away and looked at him. "Alexa, Ben, Lewis, Mikey, Austin."
I shook my head. "Don't drag Austin into this. He doesn't even know me. He has his own problems. I don't want him to feel burdened with my stupid problems."
Danny smiled. "You're so oblivious."
I frowned. "To what?"
He shook his head. "You can't see the look in his eyes when he looks at you?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Soph. He likes you. I can tell just by the way his eyes light up when you walk past him."
I shook my head. "No way. He's Austin Carlile. I'm some boring, ugly, drunk."
Danny smacked my leg. "Don't start."
I frowned. "Do you really think he likes me?"
Danny nodded and lit a cigarette. "I'd put money on it."
"Ugh. Now I feel bad." I said.
"Why?"
"I was kinda mean to him earlier when he was just trying to be nice." I said. I looked up at Danny and smiled. "I know this is gonna sound totally high school, but will you talk to him for me?"
Danny smiled. "I'll talk to him if you promise not to drink for a whole week."
I grinned. "Deal."
We shook hands and Danny left. Probably to find Austin.
I sat back and smiled. Austin Carlile might like me. I got butterflies.
"Austin Carlile, rockstar, might like me." I smiled bigger and lit a cigarette.
