*Sophia's POV*

We sat in the cutest little restaurant and talked. My stomach was in a twist. I was so nervous.

Austin took a sip of his drink and smiled at me. "So, Sophia."

"Yeah?"

"Tell me about yourself." He said.

I smiled. "What do you want to know?"

"Everything."

I sat back. "Hmm. There's nothing to really know." I smiled. "You're the interesting one. Tell me about you."

He leaned against the table. "Let's play the question game?"

I laughed. "Sure. You go first."

He smiled. "What do you do for fun?"

I took a sip of my drink and sat up. "I like to draw and read." I crossed my legs and leaned on the table. "How about you?"

He smiled and licked his lips. "Music is really it."

I put my hand down on the table and played with the napkin. "I should've known."

He looked at my hand and reached across the table just as the waitress came up. He pulled his hand away.

"What can I get you kids?" She asked.

Austin motioned for me to go first.

"I'll take the mushroom-swiss burger and fries." I handed her the menu.

She smiled at Austin. "And you?"

He ordered his food and when the waitress walked away he smiled at me. "So, tell me about your family."

I shook my head. "No family."

He frowned. "You have none?"

"No. My mom died of cancer when I was five, Dad killed himself when I was 11, my twin sister killed herself when we were 16, and my brother has been in a home since he was 9."

Austin's eyes grew wide. "I am so sorry."

I shrugged. "Don't be. Shit happens."

He looked down at the table. We were silent for a few minutes. He finally looked up and smiled. "How'd you and Alexa meet?"

I smiled back. His smile was contagious. "We met in 6th grade. I remember it like it was a few days ago." I laughed. "She came up to me and pushed me down on the playground and I started crying. She helped me up and asked me to be her friend." I shrugged and smiled. "And we were together everyday since."

Austin smiled. "That's awesome." He looked at me and reached across the table. He put his hand on mine. "You're so beautiful."

I blushed and looked at our hands. "Thank you." I pulled away and looked up at him. He was smiling at me. "Austin, do me a favor?"

"Yes?"

"Don't fall for me, okay?" I said.

He frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Danny used to look at me like that. You're a sweet guy and I don't wanna hurt you." I said. I played with the loose string on my sweater.

Austin reached across the table. "Give me your hand."

I looked at him. "What?"

"Hand." He said.

I put my hand in his and smiled.

He squeezed my hand. "I like you. You're sweet. And you're gorgeous. But, like you said before. I barely know you. You have problems that you need to deal with. But I would like to get to know you. And maybe one day, if it happens, it happens."

I looked at our hands. His big tattooed hand completely covered mine. I looked up at him. "Why are you being so nice?"

He shrugged. "Why not?"

"I've been with two guys my whole life. Neither of them were very nice to me."

Austin laughed. "Bad taste?"

I smiled. "Thank you for being nice."

"Thank you for giving me the chance." He said, smiling.
