Tamara had been under extraordinary stress. She did her best not to let it show. She kept herself in control while people were around.
When Ell and Matilda left her alone with Tori, she knew what would happen. All it would take was Tori to start up. Inevitably she was bound to pick with Tamara.
"Hey, Tamara." She said then walked by. Tamara heard her mumble. "Bet you only got your job by sleeping with your boss."
"What was that commie? Wanna say it to my face?"
"You only got your job by fucking your boss." She said once more.
Tamara could feel her blood boil. She needed to leave the room before she transformed.
"Awe, running away? Wouldn't do that if Ell and Matilda were here."
Tamara started to breath heavily. Slowly she started to turn. She grew a tail, horns, and ears. Tori looked terrified. She had never seen Tamara's form. She rushed over.
"Hey, hey, calm down." She said frantically. "Take deep breaths. I only said that because I wish I had your job."
Tamara could hear her faintly. She tried with all her might to listen.
"Keep talking." Tamara grunted.
"Okay. Okay. Umm, I'm sorry about how mean I am.
I just wish I were more like you. You're honestly amazing."
Tamara was calming down. Her horns sunk back in.
"I don't actually hate you. I really like you, a lot. That's why I get so mean when I think you have a boyfriend."
Slowly her tail was pulled back in.
"It really hurts when you call me commie. I guess that's how you feel when I call you nasty names, huh? I'm really sorry."
Tamara's ears flattened and sunk back into her skin. She took a deep breath and turned toward Tori. She was still rambling. Tamara grabbed her by the arms.
"Thank you. I like you too." She said softly.
Tori's face went red. She pulled Tamara into a kiss. Tamara was tense at first, but eased in.
"Oh my gosh. Hell just froze over." Ell said standing in the door way. Matilda held her phone up and took a picture.
Tori and Tamara jumped apart and blushed. They both looked at the floor.
