Edd was never quite forth coming with his feelings. He really only knew how to express him self through art, other wise it was just sarcasm and puns. The hardest thing for him to express was love.
Sure, he could be kind and spoil his friends, but when it came to girls, he did not know the first thing. Obviously he knew what he'd seen in movies or from friends dating, but not everything went according to plan. He could not figure it out.
He had tried asking girls out before, but it always went south. He'd bought flowers for his crush in elementary, only to give her an allergic reaction to them. In middle school he tried to make her a letter. He got caught writing it and the teacher read it for everyone. Then in high school, he went as far as to bake cupcakes for his crush on her birthday. All that happened was it wasn't fully cooked when she bit into it. He had all but given up at this point.
So when he felt his heart skip a beat the first time he saw Tori, he knew it wasn't gonna end well. Of course the only time he saw her was at work. She was a regular at the small record shop he worked at. Honestly, he loved her music taste. They'd briefly talk about her music, but she always seemed in a hurry.
He was deep into thought about asking her out when he heard the bell ring. He blinked once or twice. His eyes wondered to the movement across the room. There she stood, glancing through the records. However he was torn between enjoying the view and hating the outfit she wore. Maybe it was simply that he didn't want anyone but him looking at her like that. And he could plainly see others looking.
One guy specifically bothered him. This guy was standing so close to her. He hated it. Edd always knew he was the jealous type (even if he'd never had a girlfriend). He decided to try to ignore the guy. It wasn't like he had a shot with Tori.
He heard giggles coming from her direction. Anger bubbled. He decided to listen to the music instead.
Cause I'm bad at love
Ooh ooh
Lookin at my historyEdd frowned deeper. 'What a wonderful reminder.' He thought.
"So, are you free tomorrow?" He heard the guy ask.
"Oh, well... sorry I had work. My coworkers act as though they can't govern without me." She said politely. He laughed.
"Ah well maybe next time." The guy said as he left.
She walked over to the counter and placed her records. Edd heard her sigh. He spun around.
"Hey dude." She said. He noticed her posture. She put arms criss-cross on the counter, her back arched, and her breasts rest on the counter. He did his best not to look.
"Sup." He responded. Edd took her records and started to check her out.
She tried to make small talk with him. "Did you hear that guy? Honestly, I hate being cat called."
Edd glances her way. "I'm sorry I didn't hear the conversation."
Tori scrunched her nose. Edd thought it was cute. "Well," She started, "I don't know about you, but I find it disrespectful when a guy starts a conversation with 'hey sexy.'" Edd nodded in agreement. "Seriously, how do you expect a girl to want to go out with you if all you do is comment on her body."
"That is rude." Edd said softly. Tori nodded exasperated. "Your total is 40.06." She handed him the money.
Edd would have thought she'd leave once she paid but she stayed and continued talking. Edd didn't mind though, after all he got to look at her.
"You know, I lied to him right?" She said suddenly.
"Oh?"
"Yeah. I'm free tomorrow, but I don't want to spend it with a fuck boy. My days off are rare and cherished." She explained.
