Joan didn't really get along with the people she lived with. Sure she tried, but they were jerks. Joan only lived there cause she had no other choice. She couldn't move back into her parent's. Joan felt unwanted.
Joan heard shouting next door. She jumped up. It wasn't unusual, but it still alarmed her. Joan opened the door. Her neighbor, Tamara, was passing on the side walk. Joan walked over.
"Uh, are you okay?" She asked cautiously.
Tamara turned to her. She made a sour face. "Why do you care?"
Joan felt a bit sad. Did she really do something that bad to her. "I-I just heard yelling! I wanted to see if you guys were alright."
Tamara sighed. "Yeah we're alright. Ell just told me to take a walk 'cause I was getting pissed at another house mate."
Joan knew that all too well. The difference was she never acted on it. "Well, let's take a walk." Tamara hunched her shoulders.
"Did you know, there's a really pretty lake around this corner?" She asked Tamara.
"Nope."
Joan lead the way. They had to venture through the woods, but the pond was beautiful. Tamara stared in amazement.
"Holy shit." Tamara said in awe. Joan nodded in agreement.
"I come here when I get tired of being in that hell hole I call a home." Joan explained. She picked up a rock and skipped it across the water.
"You know I've never been able to skip rocks." Tamara said. Joan was surprised, she'd been taught that as a child. Her and Tamara spent the day skipping rocks (after she showed her how.)

Joan could not be inside any longer. All of her house mates were yelling at her. She stormed out the house. Joan made her way to the pond. She sat near it and pulled her knees up to her chest. Joan rested her chin on her knees and cried. She hates everything to do with that house.
Joan heard rustling behind her. It wouldn't be the first time on of her house mates followed her after she stormed out. She slowly stood up. Joan grabbed a rock and got ready to throw it.
"I leave me alone!" She cried. Tamara came out with her hands up. Joan dropped the rock and quickly wiped the tears from her eyes.
"Why are you crying?" Tamara asked. She calmly walked over to Joan.
"I hate living there." Joan said simply. Tamara looked at the ground.
"I know how that feels. Ever since that bitch moved back in she's been ruining everything for me." Tamara said.
"See that's where we're different, you liked living there at one point. I only live with them because I have no other option." Joan said. It was the painful truth she'd come to live with.
Tamara wrapped her arm around Joan. "That fucking sucks." Joan nodded and cried on Tamara. They stayed out there all day and talk about moving in together. It was nice for both of them to just forget their problems. They walked home when night came.
