Chapter 37- A Piece Of You

Joey's POV

After we got out of the school I practically tackled Shane with a hug and a kiss.

Joey: Oh my god Shane! That was amazing! You're my hero!

Shane: I said I wouldn't let anyone hurt you.

Brittany: Well he did get punched in the face a few times.

Shane: You get my point! How does your face feel?

Joey: It hurts.

Shane: I bet. Let's go home and get you an icepack.

Shane drove Brittany home and then us. He explained what happened to my mom. I got an icepack and we went up to my room.

The good side of my face rested against his chest. The other had an icepack pressed against it.

Joey: Shane?

Shane: Yes babe?

Joey: Please don't leave...

Shane: Aww Joey. You know if it wasn't my job I would be here with you.

Joey: I know. I just hate the feeling of missing you and wanting you when you're not around.

Shane: I feel the same. It's hard on the both of us.

I sighed and sat up. I hopped out of his lap and faced him.

Joey: You're my first boyfriend. You're the first person I've ever been in a relationship with. The first person I ever loved. It's hard because I've never had experience with dating stuff before and now I'm thrown into this crazy relationship.

Shane: It will get easier. I'll take a break from touring and we can go on a vacation somewhere if you want.

Joey: That would be perfect.

I leaned forward and gave him a kiss.

Shane: Also, I want to give you this.

He pulled out what looked like a ring box. I felt a bit nervous.

Joey: This isn't a proposal right?

Shane: No! Geez. I'm only 19 Joey and you aren't even legal yet.

Joey: Whoops!

He opens the box and I see a silver ring with a heart engraved in it. I loved it.

Shane: Wear it so everyone knows that you're mine. And I hope you will be for a while. Long enough so I can get you another ring but that time I'll be down on one knee.

I gasp. He actually wants to marry me someday in the future. I hope we last that long.

He slid the ring on my finger. Now I have a piece of Shane with me whenever I get lonely or miss him.

Joey: Oh Shane. I love you so much. This is perfect.

I hugged him as tight as I could. When I let go I looked at the clock trying to see how many hours we had left.

Shane grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him. I blushed.

Shane: You're only gonna upset yourself. Let's make the best of the few hours we have left ok?

I nodded and kissed him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close. We laid down on the bed in this same position.

After that we cuddled in silence. Neither of us fell asleep because we knew that we would wake up when he had to go.

I think this will be one of his saddest departures and probably his most memorable too.
