Katelyn
The word acquired doesn't even fit the situation. For some reason they had me sit at one end of the table while Max sat at the other. To my left sat Max's mother, then his little sister in her highchair, his father next to her. On my right is three year old Alex, the older of the two identical twins, in the middle is five year old Douglas, the Allan the other twin.
Max's father looks like an older version of him, like to the T. The only difference is his height, he's older, and as a scar on his left cheek. It's not that noticeable unless you're sitting right in front of him. All of his brothers take after there mother, with the hair color and the green eyes.
"So Katelyn." Max's father says, picking at his apple pie. "Max talks an offal lot about you young lady."
"So i've heard." Max looks over at his father giving him a with the hell are you doing look.
"Why is this the first time meeting you?" he asks. "My son here has been talking about you since, well he could talk."
"Dad!" Damn first from Mom, now from Dad. Boy do i feel sorry for you Max.
"Well." I clear my throat. "In class all of our teacher have us working together. I told them that i was tired of working with the guy that threaten your loving son over here."
"Someone threaten you?!" His mother gasped in horror. "Who? why?" By the look on their faces this is a first for them. I guess he doesn't tell his mom and dad about all of the shit he goes throw at school. He tries to come up with the right worlds to say but he falls short. "Well are you going to tell us or not?" Come on Katelyn you got him in this get him out.
"Its my fault." They turn there attention away from their son to me. "Today in school James, my lab partner try to make a move on me. He had me agents the wall and i couldn't do anything. That's why your son came into the picture. He yelled at James to get away from me."
"James backed off of me a bit, giving me just enough room to get away from him." Their jaws hit the floor as the look at me in wonder. "Then in science class he tried yet again to get James to leave me alone by being my new lab partner."
"Max... Helped you..... Stooped a boy from hurting you." To say there were in shock would be an understatement.
"Yes he did." I answer. "And i don't know were i would be right now if he hadn't."
After dinner Max and i go back up to his room.
"Why did you say all of that?" He looks down at the papers on his desk, as he spun his desk chair around to face me.
"Because its true."
"But i didn't save you. If anything its the other way around." Only you would see it that way.
"Look, what you did for me today, I can never thank you enough." I know he's not buying it. "Look, you'll never understand how much it mean to me that you stood up to James like that for me. It means the world to me that you did it."
"Yeah but why? That's what i don't understand!" Aside from when he yelled at James in the hall i had never heard him rise his voice before. I never imaged he would raise his voice at me. "i'm sorry." I guess he knew what i was thinking. "but why, can you at lest tell me that?"
