Dan's POV:

I sat with Phil, Kyle, Molly, Miles, Emily, Alex, and Miles mom Izzy. On the other side was Miles Dad, Austin.
"Please rise for your judge." The Security guard said. Once the judge sat down, we all did.
"Miles Terrie to the stand." The judge asked.
Mile's POV:
I sat at the stand and swore to the Bible. "Alright Miles," The judge started. "What is your dad like?"
        "Rude..."
"Can you describe to the jury what your father did exactly?"
       "Many things..." I said.
"Can you be more specific miles?" My lawyer asks.
        "About what?!" I bursted.
My lawyer sighed. "What happened the night you went to dan and phil?"
"Dad-Austin..." I refused to say dad. "He came home drunk. He started screaming that the house was a mess. He grabbed Alex and started to slap him, kicking him in the stomach. I ran up to him and started to yell at him and pushed him off Alex."
"Objection!" Austins lawyer stood up. "My client disagrees with this testimony."
"Your client sir has a criminal record of theft, possession of illegal drugs, and abuse." My lawyer fought.
"Order in the court!" The judge shouted. "Miles continue please."
I sighed. "He grabbed me and pinned me up against the wall and stared to hit me."
"Is that how you broke your nose?" My lawyer asked.
I nodded. "And then that's when I left."
"Alright miles you can go back to your seat." The judge said. I did so.
The judge questioned my mom and my siblings. Then Austin.
"You do realize the last time you were here, you testified that miles had "accidentally" called 999?" My lawyer asked.
"Yes and he did! Then they came to our house and arrested me."
"But miles says he did call it on purpose, and his siblings agree. Do you see how the majority makes more sense? Do you just not remember that night?"
"Objection!" His lawyer stood up once again. "If you had actually looked at the files, you would have seen that he wasn't at a high alcohol level. There for, gives no reason onto why he wouldn't remember that."
"And that's where you're wrong sir. Austin Terrie had a 0.12% level. Reaching just the peek of increased impairment. And when police showed up at the house they reported the signs of LSD'S in his system. Though drugs were never found during the search, doesn't mean he could have already done the drugs. But we are also forgetting that a bong was found and Mr.Terries drug test came back positive 2 hours after being put in the cell."
"My client as a very legal medical marijuana card." His lawyer speaks.
"LSD is different than marijuana sir." She said softly and shook her head. "Now Mr.Terrie. What do you remember from the night that Miles left?"
      "Nothing!" He crossed his arms.
"Exactly, that's because you sir had 0.31% alcohol level. Sir you do realize you're lucky to be alive right? You were at the level of life threatening! When police showed up, they said you had slow speech and could barely walk. And you passed out on the way to the cop car. Do you remember anything at all sir?"
"All I remember is those asshole men in blue taking my Fucking children away and not letting me see them!" He screamed.
"Sir, language. Your honor." She turned to the judge. "If I may also point out a few more things from his files?"
"Permission granted. You may." He nodded and gestured for her to continue.
"When Mr.Terrie was just 15 years old, his foster mum found him doing crack in his bedroom. She reported to child protective services and arrested him for possession of illegal drugs."
        "Objection!" Here we go again.
"Objection seems to be your favorite word today." She added.
He smirked. "This is information from the file from when he was a minor, WHICH, by the way has no relevancy in this case today." He crossed his arms.
"But it proves that he has had a long lasting record." She says. "Then when Mr.Terrie was 20, he was arrested for man slaughter and driving under the influence. The only reason he got out was because the family was Christian and didn't want to ruin and forgiving soul and didn't want to press charges as long as he went to rehab. Mr.Terrie did so, was sober for 3 years, married Izzy Lowell and had his children. They got divorced  2 weeks after Alex, the youngest was born. Mr.Terrie won custody for the kids because of the income he made. And is also the same reason why he won the kids last time we were here. And he was arrested for driving under the influence twice, and thus the abuse began leading us to this day." My lawyer finished.
His lawyer stood up and started. "Your honor, Mr.Terrie makes 2,000 pounds more than Mrs.Lowell does a year. Considering the fact that Miles goes to a private school and so does Emily, and not knowing if Alex does want to go as well when he is older, that income can really help their education."
"Objection!" Mine stood up. "Miles and Emily are on scholarship and close family pays for the rest, which is only 300 a semester."
"It-" He started to speak, but the judge cut him off. "You're just going to say that the neighborhood they live in is better? Correct?"
       He nods.
"And they have a happy life with all the electronics they have?"
      He nods. "But your hon-"
"No." He turned to my lawyer. "Would you like to rebuttal?"
She nods. "Your honor, looking at Mr.Terries credit score, he's at a 457, which is almost no credit at all. And looking at the reports most of his income goes to bars and gamboling!" She turns to the jury. "All of you are focusing on the income and who can support them better, but what I think  you're all missing here is that these kids have the mentality of defending for them selves. They don't need to be spoiled or have that one specific thing in life. They have the mentality of working hard for what they need. These kids have 4.0 GPA's and they have good plans for the future. They got into the schools they are now without any help from their father. So what you guys need to focus on, is the physical asset. Every day these kids are getting here mentally and physically, and you, the jury and all of society are over looking that." She looks down. "My statement is closed your honor."
       "Thank you."
Dan's POV:

WELL THAT DIDN'T SEEM HARD AT ALL!!' WHY DIDN'T I JUST STAY IN LAW?!
2 hours passed and the jury finally walked out.
"Do we have the verdict?" The judge asked.
One man from the jury stood up. "Yes your honor, we the jury, and all of society." Quoting Miles lawyer. "Finds Austin Terrie guilty of a charges."
"Very well," The judge turns back to Austin. "Sir, do you love your children?"
He nods. "Don't lie to me."
"No. I don't."
"You sir are a heartless man. Life in prison."
Fuck. Okay.
"I FUCKING HATE ALL OF YOU!" He lashes out and runs towards miles. "FUCK YOU! YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE BORN YOU FUCKING ASS HOLE!" He screams.
"I HATE YOU TOO! YOU RUINED MY FAMILY AND YOI RUINED MY LFIE SO FUCK YOU DAD!"
"Miles that is enough!" Izzy warned as he held miles back. "That's enough!"
The police dragged Austin away, closing the doors, and the doors to a guilty mans life.
