Dan's POV:
I sat at the couch watching tv when Kyle ran up to me. "Daddy! Daddy!" He shouted. "Can I go?!" He asked while jumping up and down. It looked as if there was a paper in his hand. Must be a permission slip.
I grabbed the paper and stared to read. His class was going on s field trip to the planetarium...tomorrow. Shit.
"Sweetie, you were suppose to turn this in a week ago. This is why we go through your backpack." I kissed his head. "I'll see if you can, it might be too late to turn in the slip."
"I want you to come!" He smiled.
"I might be able to, but I wouldn't count on it."
He smiled and clapped his hands. I picked up the phone and called his teachers office. 3:30 P.M. She should still be there.
"Hello, Mr.Lester-Howell?" She answered.
"Hi, it's Dan. Uh..Kyle's dad..." Stop being awkward. "So Kyle had actually just now given me his permission slip to go on the field trip. It says it was due last week, but is there anyway he can still go?"
"Oh of course! I just put that on there to get the kids to turn them in sooner. They're accepted up until the minute we leave." She explains.
"Great! Thank you!"
"Anytime! And, if you didn't mind, we need another parent volunteer, can you help?"
"Of course!"
"Great!" She says joyfully. "I'll put you on the list. I'll see you tomorrow."
"You too. Good bye." I said and hung up.
Kyle smiled and climbed on my lap. "Daddy!" He balanced out and started to poke my face.
"Kyle stop, I don't feel good right now." I grabbed the remote and turned the tv off. "And if I'm going on the field trip wit you, I need to rest." I try to explain.
"Why?" He cocks in head in confusion.
"Because, I'm still recovering from that surgery." I smile. I stand up and set him on the couch with his cars. I grab my oxygen tank and drag it behind me, being careful not to run over my cannula that I'm wearing.
I reach my room and sit on the edge of the bed. I take my medicine and send a picture of it in my hand too my dad.Dan: Dan has sent an image.
Tyler: ☺️ good. Don't forget your blood pressure medicine and breathing treatment.
Dan: Yes MOTHER.
Tyler: don't get sassy with me child.
Dan: do you wish mum aborted me?
Tyler: DANIEL
Dan: just wondering 😉
Tyler: Blood pressure child.
Dan: Dan has sent an image.
Tyler: Can't read it, it's too blurry.
Dan: 83.
Tyler: alright good.
I took off my cannula and put on my oxygen mask, turning on the water/oxygen vapor. It's my breathing treatment that I sleep with at night now. Instead of a cannula it's a full on breathing mask.
Dan: Dan has sent an image.
Tyler: good.
Dan: I'm vaping.
Tyler: go to sleep.
I shook my head jokingly and crawled into bed. I woke up in the middle of the night to Phil trying to get comfortable.
"You're annoying." I whisper.
"Well sorry that you steal all the covers." He replies and kisses my head. "Goodnight hunny, I love you."
"I love you too."
7 am. Great. I get up and put my cannula on, rolling my oxygen tank behind me. I came to the kitchen to Molly making us breakfast. Cereal, but aye.
We quickly ate and got in the car. I dropped Molly off at school and then went to Kyle's school. I went in with Kyle, checking in at the front desk. I walked over to his class, seeing the other parents that actually volunteered. Soon enough we went on the bus. I was sitting in the front due to my oxygen tank. I had my tank to the right of me and Kyle on my lap. He played with dinosaur.
Snow sat next to the teacher since there wasn't enough room in the seats.
I've officially decided that there are 2 things Kyle can't leave the house without. His dinosaur and Snow.
We reached the planetarium, all the kids scrambled in, Kyle had his dinosaur in his arms. He technically doesn't need a lead for Snow since she's well trained, but here is a pocket on her vest that always has one, just in case.
We sat down in the seats in the theater that the movie would be shown. Kyle couldn't stay still so I picked him up and settled him on my lap. He squirmed for a bit before laying on me.
It kinda hurt but not enough for me to get mad.
I could see other parents staring at me, as if I'm spoiling Kyle. Am I? Just then, a parent leaned forward. "Don't worry about them, they're all snooty bitches." He chuckles.
I turn my head, "These people are so uneducated, do they not know how autism works? They can clearly see the god damn service dog! I'm sure their kids talk about it every day at home."
"Exactly!" He agrees. "My sister is autistic and people are so fucking rude." He shakes his head a bit and realizes the movie has began.
Kyle moves around a bit and starts to suck on his hand. I don't even bother because Kyle would whine and throw a fit. Fuck that.
The movie went on about all the planets and other stuff.
After the movie, it was time for lunch. All the kids sat at the tables, I let Kyle take me to what ever table was best.
He walked up to a certain table and asked, "C-can I sit with you?"
"Uh, no." One of the boys started. "We don't let weirdos sit here."
"Well that's not a very nice thing to say. My son just wants to join you." I say.
"Ugh." One of the mums rolled her eyes. "Listen, my kid said they don't want him sitting here, that's it. We don't want the dog here and begging for my kids food."
"This dog is a service dog, high trained, doesn't do that at all." I explain.
"Still, there isn't any room for your oxygen tank. What's wrong with you? You dumb? Did you get in a car crash or something and fuck up your brain?"
"Actually, for your information, yes," I inform her. "I did, and I also messed up my heart and needed a transplant, but at least I still feel empathy for others." I say and pick up Kyle and walk to another, empty table.
After about 5 minutes of eating, a little girl comes up to Kyle. "Hi best friend!" She smiles and sits next to him.
"Hi best friend!" He smiles back
Ah, must be Alex.
Kyle turns to me, "Dad, can't you see? I'm busy here?" He says and does the 'shoo shoo' sign.
Well fuck. I finish my bite and slowly nod, "Yeah...sure." I gather everything up and go to another table.
"Dude!" The guy from earlier calls. "Over here!" I turn and walk to him, sitting with him.
"That's your son, right?"
"Yup, Kyle." I said. "Who's yours?"
"The little girl next to him."
"Oh. Well, she's very kind, much more kind then any of the others."
"She's been around it. And she knows damn well that if she doesn't behave, she's going to get it." He takes a bite out of his sandwich. "Wife made me come here. You?"
"My son." I said jokingly.
"What's yours like?"
"My what is like?" I ask.
"Your wife."
"Oh. I don't have one. I'm gay, I have a husband."
"Even better! Congratulations! I believe that's a beautiful thing!" He smiles.
"Thank you!" I smile back.
After the field trip, everyone went home. I put Kyle down for a nap and went down my self.
