I'd be lying if I said everything stayed the same.
Even on the surface it changed.
Him and I grew closer.
We became known as the "brothers" instead of best friend.
That's honestly all we were too.
I wasn't going to make a dick move and make out with him while he was dating someone else, and he wasn't gonna cheat on his boyfriend.
But he spent all his free time with me and told me all the crazy gossip of the artists he worked with.
"Then the Joey poured hot coffee all over Tyler!" Felix laughed.
"Um. Ouch?!" I winced.
"It's insane. The lives that those type of people share...it's different being a famous author, you know?"
"Well either way, people know your name," I shrugged.
"Yeah but most people wouldn't recognize me if they saw me in public. I don't have stalkers or anything. Plus I'm not expected to be anything but myself. The whole world isn't watching me."
"Well than lucky you," I raised my eyebrows.
"I'll be honest with you, I know all the cons of being a famous singer...but I still always have the temptation to demand Duke's producer to give me a chance to be a singer. I don't know...I like writing songs and books but...ha! I don't know man..."
"Well I say," I stood up. "You do whatever the hell you wanna do!"
"Easier said then done," he laughed.
"Well of course! I'm not telling you it'll be easy."
"It'll be impossible. Anyways, I need head over to the studio and go help Duke. Have fun at school today." He gathered his things and began to walk out the door.
"I'll walk with you. The school is close enough to the studio."
"Okay, stalker."
"Excuse y-"
"Kidding. Kidding!"
I didn't get it.
Did he actually like me back?
He made it obvious over and over, but never gave a hint that he'd ever leave Duke.
Maybe just all his signs were him hinting that he thought of me as his greatest friend.
Do best friends look at each other in the eyes and tell one another cheesy pick up lines?
I don't know anymore.
Maybe I just got my hopes up for nothing.
"You're walking so slow!" Felix moaned and grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me to go faster.
It burns.
Every time he touches me, it burns my skin.
"Sorry, didn't get much sleep."
"Well then stop drinking energy drinks at 11 at night."
"That's when the cravings come!"
"Well, then don't complain about being tired dork!"
"Ugh...fine, boss."
"Don't call me that. It's creepy," he snorted.
"BoSs," I mocked.
"Oh my god. You're way into internet memes."
"How can you not be?"
"Because I have a social life to attend to." He let go of me. "Anyways, I'll see you." I watched him walk into the studio building and was left alone in my own thoughts once more.
