so, if you own or train, or are into horses at all, you should probably know that respect is a a HUGE factor in the training process, right? Well I can finally work with horses again after the longest week of my life away from them. My Arabian mare, Ozzy, (I don't know why I felt like I had to introduce her again, I've done that probably 100 times...anywho) has lost most respect for me. she is now testing me and I've had enough. Arabians are bred for long periods of time working hard without resting, even in hot conditions. So today I lunged her in the round pen. I had no halter or lead rope or lunge line. just me, her, and the whip. when she was turning to the left from the right she did great turning toward me, except almost running me over a few times. but when I tried to get her to turn right from the left, she kept turning towards the fence. the horse is supposed to turn toward you so it is not running away but instead looking for security with you. but in the end she joined up.
I'm gonna hopefully go back out with her tomorrow and work some more. I tend to get impatient which leads to frustration. I found that having a radio out with you while you are lunging will get your mind away from the impatient-ness (i don't think that's a word...) and it should theoretically clear frustration. does that make sense to you guys??
just my thoughts for today!! until next time!!
