Merry christmas to my amazing and supportive reaers! (I know, its late.... Holidays... ya know..) How did your christmases go? Did any of you give your horses presents? The present we gave our horses, was a clean pasture. Where we live, when it gets cold, it gets cold. So like, the only time you can clean the pasture during the winter, is when its warm and not frozen, or when its so freaking cold that its firzen into marbles that are reatively easy to get up. We brought the ATV and plow in and the horses wer hilarious. Moonshine spooks at a lot of things when you aren't on him, so he wasn't comfortable around the ATV. He took off immediately, but Jigs, being the curious 2 year old he is, started sniffing it right away. Dad moved it, and Jigs jumped back. They were running around the whole paddock. It sounds a little mean, but I promise it wasn't. It was just really funny. Huh. Cleaning the paddock on Christmas. #FarmLife... Speaking of Jigs.... he is so young that he really doesn't know better, but he has issues with kicking, charging, biting,... etc. We are working on it, and he has already improved a lot. When we first got him, if we brought the grain in, he would crowd us, and if we tried to move him away, he would turn his hindquarters and almost kick out. Now, hes getting the hang of it and hardly kicks. In that setting at least. Working with him in the round pen is a different story. He doesn't understand that the human is the boss yet. he was at least 2nd in command in his old herd, so this is a change. Moonshine is dominant in the pasture, And dad and I are dominant when we are in the pasture. Moonshine understands this perfectly, and is a complete angel when it comes to literally anything. Jigs isnt... I'm still working on it, but i need to study up a bit more as I've never dealt with this sort of thing before. Oh wait, there was one horse. Ziek. I didn't work with him long enough to really get a feel for him, but the first time we were together he kicked out. I guess I've just never dealt with this behavior in depth.
On a different note, his former owner sent us pictures of Jigs's parents, and that was one of my chirstmas presents. His dad is BUILT! Like, really built. It wasn't a great picture of his mom, but she is pretty too. It included pictures of Jigs as a colt too, and he was so adorable. (Still is) The pictures were taken when he was still pretty young, maybe a few weeks.

Isn't his dad gorgeous? I don't know how old he is in this picture, probably 11. Now, he's about 13. And Jigs as a baby is one of the cutest things i've ever seen. And i've seen a lot of cute things in my long life.
Have any of you ever had to deal with the kinds of things Jigs has? Got any pointers?
So this is close to the end of the book! I promise i'm not exactly happy about that, but hey! We will get to turn the page to a new chapter of my life with horses!! ILY guys!! cya!
