I'm sorry I haven't written in a while. You guys all know my horse, Jackie, right? The Chestnut quarter horse mare? I don't know where to start. this has kind of been going on for a while, but it's so much worse now. she has been limping a lot in at least 2 out of 4 hooves. she is 25 so it's possibly arthritis. but arthritis doesn't ever get better only worse. The vet hasn't seen her yet but he thinks that her internal organs might be shutting down which could also explain the weight loss and shivering in the mornings. He's going to be coming out on Friday to see, but right now it doesn't look good. really, no matter what it is there isn't much left that we can do. if it's Lyme's, it's fixable but can be very spendy. If we were going to still be getting something out of Jackie, we could do it. but she is a pasture mate pretty much. Anything we do might possibly prolong her life by a little bit, but than we will just have to deal with the same thing in a year or so. it sounds heartless to say that, but i have to force myself to think practically. it's so hard though because Jackie has been my best friend since I was about 4. Last summer we got extremely close. we spent the whole summer riding together on trail rides. almost every single day. I'm gonna close for now, but just please keep us in your prayers and I'll try to update as soon as possible.
