I stood there, not knowing what to do until Confid gestured for me sit on the bed. Reluctantly I did so. The weight from my body caused the bed to dip and slightly startled Jessica as I imagined she wasn't expecting anyone else except Confid to be in the room after Rachel had left.

Confid got up and looked at both of us, "it's time you two make amends. For Azgeda. And for the little warrior."

Silent tears fell from the corner of Jessica's eyes as she watched Confid walk through the door closing it behind him. She looked at me, her deep onyx brown eyes filled with pain as the droplets kept falling down.

I brushed them away with my thumb then gently placed my palm on the side of her face, just gently stroking the apples of her cheeks as I stared and admired the features I had often missed. She put her small hand on top of mine and pulled it off her face only to lace her fingers through mine and bring it to her lips. She held it there for a moment before bringing it down to her lap, our fingers still intertwined, her eyes no longer making contact with mine.

She sighed, "Roan..." her voice cracked from the amount of crying she had done.

"It's okay." I told her, scooting closer so that now the heat that radiated from our bodies could now be felt on each other. "It's okay."

She shook her head, fighting back more tears, "it's not okay. He's missing."

Confused, I took her chin and tilted it up so she was looking at me, "who's missing?"

"Rover." She coughed out, "Rover is missing, Roan."

"Rover." I stated, my voice fading away silently. "Do you mean Rover, as in like Ethan's friend?"

She looked at me, her eyes widening, "you're the Roan he was talking about! YES. Rover, Ethan's friend!"

"They're just kids, Jessica," I slightly chuckled. She was crying over some little boy who was probably still just hiding, "remember how we were when we were kids? We always stayed out."

"Not when we were 3, Roan!" She was dead serious as she answered me. "And he's not just some kid! Ethan is back home, Rover is nowhere to be found. Even when the boys play hide and seek, they ALWAYS come home together."

"Just calm down, Jessica." I tried soothing her but that only angered her more.

"Don't tell me to calm down, Roan! MY SON IS OUT, GOD KNOWS WHERE....and I'm here- I... I just want my Rover back home." She pinched the bridge of her nose as she sat on the edge of the bed now.

My mind was racing trying to come to terms with what she just said, "Your son?"

She looked at me instantly a look of terror on her face as she had just realized what slipped out. "Roan..."

"How old is he?"

"He just turned three."

"...so around the time I was banished." I was trying to figure it out in my head while I read her body language and facial features. But it was hard to do so when she was a master at concealing her emotions when it was necessary. Just as vulnerable as she had been a minute ago, she was now as emotionless as a statue. The only emotions coming out through the sound of her voice.

"Roan."

"Is he mine?" I said hopefully.

The upward tug at the corner of her lips was the only answer that I needed, Rover was my son. I HAVE A SON...a son that was missing.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I just- a lot of things happened after you got banished."

"Like what? Please, if there's any time to tell me what happened, now is the time. The guards are out looking for Rover right now. Tell me everything, and then we can go join them. Things will play out better if there are no secrets between the two of us."

She nodded and began to tell me about the next morning after my duel that led to my banishment.
