The guest room was an average size. It was painted pale blue and had a window looking out to the front yard, which I found to be very convenient. A queen bed was pressed up against the wall, draped with all white sheets and comforter. The closet wasn't big but it would last me a couple of days until I moved into my new place, and the bathroom was across the hall. Apparently, Harry and Louis got there own bathrooms in each of their rooms.
By the time I finished unpacking some of my clothes and storing my other stuff in a safe place, it was already 4:15 p.m. I still hadn't called Ian to tell him I made it in okay. He was probably slightly freaking out.
Now really wasn't a time for my contacts and an ear piece. I knew for a fact that no one would be breaking in tonight and causing a scene that would require me to have extra eyes and ears. So instead I opted for a simple phone call.
Someone picked up on the first ring, but it wasn't Ian "Where the hell have you been?"
I rolled my eyes at the scolding tone of Ryan's voice. Just like Ian, he had the tendency to go big-brother on me too, especially when it came to cases. He would constantly walk in front of me, be the driver, and make the plans that required me to do little invasive field work. I knew he was just trying to keep me safe, but I was old enough to protect myself. I didn't need some man to do it for me just because I was a girl.
"Where's Ian?" I asked, ignoring his question.
"Right here," I heard Ian's distant voice. He must've been sitting next to Ryan while Ryan confiscated his phone. There was shuffling coming from the other end until Ian's voice became more prominent, like he had control over the phone finally. "You're on speaker phone. How did it go?"
"Good and bad," I told them. Before going into detail I walked out into the long hallway to make sure no one was eaves dropping. I knew there were no cameras in the house, which I scolded Louis for, so when I saw the hallway was clear, I was able to speak freely. "Louis managed to play his part and made me out to be an old friend from Doncaster to his friends, which they bought with flying colors."
"So what's the bad part?" Ryan asked.
"London police department," I said. "They're being a bunch of lazy asswipes and are refusing to help us out until we find new evidence that will help the case."
"Really?"
"Yeah," I sighed. "I was just as shocked as you are. Of course I had a few words with the man in charge so now I don't know if we'll even get there help at all."
"Shocker," Ryan said sarcastically. If he was standing in front of me right now, I would stick my tongue out at him.
"Looks like I'm gonna have to try and fix that one," I heard Ian sigh and begin clicking away on his computer, probably making a note to do that tomorrow. "Anyway, what are your plans for the rest of the night?"
"Well, my brilliantly smart brother has no security cameras on his property at all," I rubbed the palm of my hand against my forehead to ease the tension in my head. "So I'm gonna have to install some and set it up on my phone. I'll have to walk around the place to get the right angles, so hopefully the boys will go out tonight or tomorrow. I'll make sure you have access to them as soon as possible, Ian."
"Thank you," he replied.
"Make sure you set one up in your shower," Ryan said. I could hear the smirk forming on his face.
"I wish you were here so I could punch you in the mouth," I said.
Ryan loved to make comments like that ever since we agreed to being friends only and there was no awkwardness between us. He doesn't do it to flatter me though, he does it for his ego and reputation. He probably thinks it makes him look cooler or something.
