The boxy Hummer limo pulled up to the curb of the popping night club. Many burly security men dressed in black lined the walkway to the entrance, constantly pushing fans and paparazzi back. As soon as I stepped out of the car, I was blinded by the flashes coming from so many cameras and the screaming was just so obnoxious.
Harry noticed my discomfort first and placed his hand on the small of my back to lead the way. Leaning down to my ear he asked, "Are you okay?"
His breath tickled against my skin and the closeness of his mouth to my face almost made me weak. Almost.
"Yeah." I managed to muster despite how distracted and uneasy I felt. So many emotions sky rocketing through my body.
Inside, the club was dark. The only lights were multi-colored strobe lights bouncing off the walls. The DJ was jumping up and down on a raised platform where many people gathered to dance to the music. The bar was in the middle, right behind the dance floor. It was huge. Large semi-circle countertops were on both sides of the display of alcohol. Clear stools were underneath and there wasn't one vacant. Alcohol was very demanding in these kinds of places.
As soon as we walked inside, our group had dispersed. Mostly to the bar but some went to find friends and dance. Unfortunately, I was left alone.
The knife felt cool against my skin as I walked up to the bar. My eyes scanned the ceiling for security cameras. Men in uniform stood in random corners and doorways that seemed to lead to private rooms for VIP members and staircases that must lead to offices of some sort. The tension in my system eased at the level of security I felt from this club. However, I have yet to see anyone from my team, including Ryan.
I was able to shimmy my way through the crowd and steal one open stool at the corner of the bar. The music was so loud I have no idea how the bartender heard my order before walking away to make my vodka cranberry. The bass vibrated through my feet up to my head. I even found myself nodding along to the beat drop. I probably looked like a total loser - sitting by myself at the bar and dancing alone to the music.
A different bartender brought over my drink in a tall skinny glass. I looked up to thank her only find myself nodding at a woman I work with. I've never had a conversation with her per say, but I recognized her in one of my defensive skills class. She saw my facial expression change and nodded reassuringly. I had people all over. She walked away without a word.
Someone poked me on the shoulder. I swiveled around in my stool and was met face to face with Eleanor.
"That looks delicious!" She said pointing to my drink. She looked over my shoulder and waved down a bartender. "I'll have whatever she's having."
"Where's Louis?" I asked her.
"Had to use the bathroom." She replied. The man sitting next to me stood up from his seat and walked away. Eleanor was quick on her feet and jumped on it.
"What about the others?"
"Liam and Danielle were talking to a bunch of friends. I swear they're never going to get any time alone tonight. Everyone keeps wishing Liam a happy birthday. Like hello! You should have done that last week." The bartender came back with her drink and she sipped it eagerly. She moaned in delight. "This is delicious. Simple yet amazing. Oh! Zayn and Perrie were on the dance floor last I checked and Harry is probably already talking to some horny girl in hopes to get laid tonight."
"Oh." I said. I couldn't help but be slightly disappointed to hear Harry was looking for a hook up with another girl. I mean, don't get me wrong, I want to curse myself out for feeling this way. But Harry just has this control over me and I can't help how my body reacts to it.
