The next week I wasn't myself. I stayed locked in my apartment unless I was forced to leave for meetings with the police on updates for our cold case or when one of the boys showed up and forced me to get breakfast or lunch.
It was a dull Thursday night. I was laying in bed, scrolling through the Internet for any information that Ian may have missed about King's Exchange. I knew I was wasting my time as I continued to click on different links. If Ian, the Internet genius, couldn't find it than there was no way in hell I would be able to either.
I clicked out of all the windows when someone knocked on my door. I shut my laptop and tossed it to the side. My slippers padded across the hardwood floor and I opened the door. Harry was leaning against the doorframe with a newspaper in his hand. When he saw me, he smirked and welcomed himself inside.
"I didn't know you were dropping by." I closed the door behind him. Don't get me wrong, I was happy that he was here. I missed him since the last time I saw him...which was yesterday.
Harry shrugged and kissed me. "I figured you missed me." He smiled at me sweetly, showing off his cute dimples.
"I did." I said. "But if you were going to show up around dinner time, you at least could've brought pizza."
Harry grinned with amusement. "I could've, but I have an even better idea."
I squinted and laughed nervously. "What?"
Harry whipped out the newspaper and showed it to me like he was a five year old showing his mother the painting he made at school. He had a silly smile on his face and wiggled the paper in front of me.
The head line of the paper was about a Fall Festival Fair in downtown London. Apparently it was supposed to be a big deal, with rides, food, and good music. I snagged the paper out of his hands and read more into it.
"You want to go to the fair?" I asked.
"Yeah." Harry said excitedly. "I figured tonight would be a good night since it won't be very crowded on a Thursday so we have a better chance of not being recognized."
I sighed. "Harry I don't know..."
"Look." Harry took the paper out of my hands and placed it on the counter. "You've been locked in this apartment for too long. I know you're sad about your friend but he would want you to live your life and be happy."
I stared into his deep green eyes. I was so lucky to find a guy that cared so much about me. I didn't deserve it, but I wasn't going to let him go.
I pulled him in for another kiss, this one lasting longer than the first. Louis was right. I am in love with Harry. Even months after our first kiss, Harry still managed to make me feel giddy and fill me with butterflies. Harry's hands found their way to my waist. His thumbs rubbed circles on my hip bones.
I pulled away first and bit my lip. "Thank you. I'll go change."
I changed out of my leggings and t shirt and threw on a pair of jeans and blush pink off the shoulder sweater. Since we would be out in public with possible paparazzi, I brushed some - okay, maybe more than some - makeup on my face.
I walked back into the living room where Harry was sitting on his phone texting.
"Okay. I'm ready." I slapped down on my thighs and grabbed my house keys. "I hope you're ready to lose at all the carnival games because those are my ish."
"In your dreams, love." Harry wrapped his arms around my shoulder and kissed the top of my head. We walked to his car and he drove us to the fair.
The fair was in an open grass field. It was already dark outside but the glowing multi color lights from different game areas and rides lit up the place and created an illusion of dancing lights off of people's faces. It was loud too. People were screaming on rides, kids were yelling at their parents for one more ride, announcers were speaking into microphones while describing a game, and music played from speakers all around the place.
