While the boys had their secret meeting to discuss Liam's birthday bash, I locked myself away in my room and looked over the actual case files reguarding Rita Ora's and Blaise Manchef's abduction. Besides the obvious bomb finding and standard missing persons report, the two of them had nothing in common other than a shit ton of money. Both of their credit cards read nothing suspicious, and their text messages and voicemails were from no one threatening. They had to be taken by the same people who were in search for one thing: money. But usually when people look for money, they kill and dispose of the body as soon as they get what they were looking for. Since we haven't seen that yet, I had reason to believe that they were still alive.

That was the furthest I could go with that information. I needed to go back to the PD and look through their physical evidence to see if I could tie anything together. I really hoped I didn't have to go through Sargent Davis again. Prick. Just thinking about him and his attitude got my blood boiling.

I told Louis that I would love to attend Liam's birthday party. What I didn't tell him was that I was probably going to go no matter what just to keep an eye on the band. However this was easier since I didn't have to find a disguise and keep myself hidden from anybody. I was worried about the boys since the party would be a very public and crowded setting which the suspects seemed to like. I was on high alert and on edge about the entire party but it's not like I could tell Louis or the others not to have it. But just in case the worst were to happen, I called Ryan to make sure he could attend and be backup for me.

"You want me to come work security at Club X while you party with celebrities?" Ryan asked on the phone. He had no authority to say no to me. He was my partner and if I needed him on a mission he had to be there. But I knew he was just saying this to irk me, and it was working.

"Yes. I'm asking for you to keep it in your pants for one night to do your job. I'm gonna be working too but I also have to look like I'm not on a job."

"What about Louis? He'll recognize me."

"Louis shouldn't be surprised that I want some of my own people to work around security with me. I'll tell him to ignore you if he sees you. I'm going to put in a request for about three other people too. Just in case."

"That's a lot of employment hours, Kell," Ryan sighed. "I don't know if Lydia will allow so many people to work for you when you have no reason to believe the band will be attacked." He paused before echoing his next thought. I knew what he was going to say though. It was something I was going to be hearing about a lot. "You've never done this before..."

"You think I'm pulling extra resources and being slightly dramatic because this involves my brother, right?" I scoffed. "Well hell yeah that's what I'm doing. I will not lose him to something like this. Over my dead body will I let myself slack at any point during this case. If this was your sister, you would be doing the same exact thing."

"Look, I get it. And if I were in the same predicament you were in, I sure as hell would not be handling it half as well as you are. But try and remember that this is not your new reality. You living with Louis and getting along with him is great, but just remember the life you're coming back to when this is all over."

I didn't know how to respond to that. Of course I knew that I wouldn't be living with Louis for the rest of my life, and I wanted to continue to be as close as we have been in the last couple of days. But when we go about our separate lives again, will we go back to our old ways?

"I just don't want to see you get hurt, Kell." Ryan said again after hearing my silence.

"I know," I sighed. "Listen I've got to go. Can I trust you to be there on Saturday?"
