*last time*
'Hello?'
The only noise was a low chuckle...

KELLIN'S POV
I froze.
'Jesse..' I whispered.
'Yeah?'
'Did you hear that?' I asked, not keeping my eyes of the darkness in the corner, afraid that something would pull me in.

'Hear what?' He asked.
'T-the noise, like a laugh?'
'I-I t-thought that was y-you..' He whispered.

Anxiety sat in the pit of my chest.
'No...' I whispered.
A type of static energy felt like it was in the air.

I took a step back.
'Can you feel it too?' Jesse whispered.
I nodded slowly.

A crunching noise was coming from the exact corner, sending shivers up my spine.

The front door flew open and all of a sudden, all static energy was gone.
The feeling that someone was watching us was gone.
The noises were gone.

'What's going on?' A cheerful Vic said, walking into the room with a massive smile on his face.

'Uhh, nothing..did you get your food?' I asked.
He nodded and walked over to the corner, were the noises had been coming from.

I stared at him as he walked over and picked something up.
'What's that?' I asked.
He shrugged.
'I dunno, it's like a note but..in a different language..'

I looked at Jesse who shrugged.
I sighed and walked up to the balcony.

'Hey, Kellin?' Vic asked.
I stopped walking, 'Uh yeah?'
'We're like, quite good friends now right? He asked
I nodded.
'So, uh, do you wanna come down to San Diego when I'm finished here, for like a few days?.' He asked.

I hesitated.
'I-I can't..' I whispered, almost inaudible.

Hurt spread over his face, but was quickly replaced by a small smile.

'Okay.'

I swallowed the lump in my throat.
'I'm sorry, I-I would if I could.' I said.

He frowned.
'Why can't you go?'

I shrugged.
'I just...can't.' I whispered.

He walked towards me and tucked a hair behind my ear.
My breath shortened, yet I didn't need to breath. It was habit.

'There's something you're not telling me, Quinn.' He muttered.

I looked away, not wanting to get lost in his deep brown eyes, that seemed to be urging me to tell him the truth.

I shook my head.
'There's nothing' I lied.
He lifted my chin up so I was facing him.

'You can tell me anything.' He said softly.

I knew what he was doing.
And it nearly worked.
But not quite.

I pushed his hand away and took a step back, looking at the floor.
'N-nothing.'
Signs of lying: not looking them in the eye and stuttering.
Great job Kellin.

He frowned.
'I'm not going to give up.' He said and turned away.

I sighed and looked at Jesse who had been watching the whole time.

'Don't get attached Kellin.' He warned.
I sighed again.

'I think I already have..'
