Chapter 5

KELLIN'S POV

I looked around anxiously. I haven't been outside in over a year. I looked over to Jesse who was looking around too, I wonder how long it had been since he had left that building.

We had been walking for a while.

'Where do you want to eat?' Vic asked. I shrugged. He stopped on the sidewalk. 'There?' He asked pointing to a small coffee shop on the side of the street.

'Sure.' I shrugged. Even though I was dead, I was actually kinda hungry.

'Hey.' Jesse said. I looked at him, but didn't say anything. I didn't want vic to think I was imagining things.

'You know you can't eat, right.' He said.
I frowned. What did he mean?

'People can't see you Kellin. They're gunna think it's weird if they see a flowing sandwich being eaten.' He said.

'Oh yeah..' I whispered sadly.

'Huh?' Vic asked. I shook my head, 'Uh..nothing.'

I sighed, I should've just waited things out. Killing myself was the most stupidest thing I've ever done. I mean, i guess I've done some fun stuff with Jesse in the past year but, It's like I'm in jail. I haven't left for a year in fear of what happened and when I do actually leave I have restricted time..

I wonder how my parents are, how Matty is...even what all the people that made my life a misery thought.

A tear rolled down my cheek, I quickly wiped it away and swallowed the lump in my throat, not wanting vic to ask questions.

We reached the shop and walked in.

'What do you want?' Vic asked me.
I automatically cringed, I didn't want people to think he was talking to himself.

'Uh, I'm fine actually.' I said quickly.
'You have to eat something, come on.' He said.
I shook my head. 'Drink?' He asked.
I shook my head again.
'Only if you're sure..' he said.
I nodded.
'Next.' The woman behind the counter said.
Vic and I walked over to her, leaving Jesse looking around in the doorway.

'Uh, hi can I have a cheese sandwich with a chocolate milkshake please.' He said. The woman nodded and wrote it down on a piece of paper.

'Are you sure you don't want anything?' Vic asked. I shook my head again.

The woman behind the counter frowned and stood on her tip toes to see who he was talking to.

Even though she couldn't see me my face went a scarlet color. God why was this so embarrassing?

The woman served him and we walked over to a table by the window to eat.

'So, how come you live there?' Vic asked. Oh no...

'Err...' I started. His phone rang.
Saved by the phone

'I'm so sorry, this is probably my brother, have to get it.' He said, rummaging in his pocket and prizing his phone out.

'Hello?' He said into the phone.
Silence.
'When?'
'Tomorrow?'
'Okay.'
'I can introduce you to my new friend then!'
My eyes widened.
'No, he's not imaginary.' He said with a roll of his eyes.
I sank in my seat.
'Okay, yep, yep.. k, see ya tomorrow then!' He smiled and hung up.

'Hope you don't mind, Mike, Tony, and Jaime are arriving tomorrow. That's alright isn't it?' He asked hopefully.

I nodded.
One problem..
They wouldn't be able to see me.
Making vic look mad.

If only i knew how vic could see me..
'Uh Kellin?' Vic asked, waving his hand in front of my face.
'Uh, oh.. sorry.' I said.
He smiled, 'are you sure you don't want any food.' He asked
I nodded, 'I'm fine thanks.

I looked to my right.
'ARGH!' I yelped and jumped back in my seat.

I forgot Jesse was there.

'What's wrong? Are you okay?!' Vic panicked.

I rolled my eyes at the laughing Jesse and faced vic, my face slowly turning red.

'Uh, yeah...sorry.' I muttered, covering my face with my hair.

'Uhh... right. Okay..' vic frowned, not convinced at all.

'What's the time?' I asked.
Vic glanced at his watch
'6.00 o clock.' He said.
'Shoot!' I said, jumping out of my seat.
Had we really been this long?
I guess the walk was a while..

'Uh, I really have to get back.. sorry!' I said, running out of the cafe, leaving a confused looking Vic behind.

I sprinted back to the building, knocking into people, but they couldn't see me anyway, so they couldn't blame me.

I ran across roads and down backstreets, trying to find shortcuts.

The building was in view, I sighed a sigh of relief.

I saw the timer.
58 seconds it read.

I smiled and slowed down.
Until coming towards a sudden stop.
I completely forgot.
Jesse.

I snapped around.
'Jesse!' I yelled.
I span around, standing on my toes.
'Jesse!' I repeated.

'Hey! It's okay I'm here.' A voice said behind me.
I turned around to see him standing there.
I sighed, 'Jesus Christ you scared me.'
He cracked a smile, 'Like keeping you on your toes.'
I punched his arm, 'you're so annoying'
'I try' he smirked.

'Shit!' He yelled, grabbing me by my shirt and chucking me through the door, him following quickly behind me.

'What?!' I asked.
'We literally had 3 seconds left. Jesus!' He yelled.

I sighed, there had been enough close calls today.

I climbed up the balcony and waited for vic to come back.

But in a way I didn't want him to, although it had already hit me.

And the dread in the pit of my stomach was clearly there.

I had fallen for a man I could never love.
